Pan the Organizer product line...let's discuss@

Could you kindly fill me in on what happened on his now infamous video?
He chose ALL his products the winner and his cronnies got either 2nd or 3rd as well

Once the video was viewed EVERYONE and I mean E V E R Y O N E commented that it wasn't right to pick your own products, especially since they're so damn new

I went down the line for a long time and couldn't find a positive comment saying it was OK what he did there and by the next day the video was gone....then replaced with an "explanation video" where he surely called in some favors from his then 1.04M subs to talk it up

Here are the highlights
1. Pan announced he was coming out with his own line of detailing products
2. Less than a week from the product launch and before anyone could even acquire and try any of Pans “Clean” products, Pan holds his best products of 2024 awards
3. In every category that a Clean product existed Pan rated his Clean product #1 and his cohorts “Detail Co” #2

Well this went over like a lead balloon and the negative feedback was instantaneous and severe. Which in my opinion was warranted however Pan handled this feedback very poorly and definitely damaged his reputation in the process. With the awards video being out for only a few hours it had countless horrible reviews and Pan took the video down within hours of it being posted.

The great irony being they are now both getting good reviews (if we can trust them) and these nor detail co probably need this pre-launch stunt pulled.

I guess any press is good press

While the oddly self-inflicted debacle is still relatively fresh in the mind, he’ll have to weather the storm. Overall, I’d imagine he’ll be just fine and maintain the majority of his 1 million+ subscriber list, perhaps with a net gain on the $$ line due to his new product sales.

I don’t think ‘serious’ hobbyists/detailers took him seriously for quite some time now and the casual folks he seems to appeal to will be somewhat unaware of the miss-step.

I do find it curious that someone who has some Social Media chops (you don’t get 1M subscribers by being a complete delusional rube) would miscalculate in the manner he seems to have done w the ‘awards’ Any publicity is good publicity?

Well I for one won’t soon forget what I would consider to be a sleazy move by Pan. That action will forever be engrained in my mind. As a matter of fact any time that I may happen across a video/sighting of Pan I won’t be able to help my mind from drifting back to the current events. That’s just the way I’m built.

The way I understand it, when TRC came onto (our) scene was way after the company was started, in their initial incarnation they were a bulk supplier to car washes, etc., where they use "rags". Later they saw the boutique market as more lucrative, although you can still see they sell in bulk quantities.

It's a funny evolution/cycle. When I joined detailing forums 20 years ago, I found out I could no longer dry my car using my Fieldcrest cotton towel blems I had gotten at Macy's for half price, nor my car wash sponges from the auto parts store, I had to use waffle weave microfibers and wool mitts.

Then in a few years, suddenly you had to have plush terry drying towels and use a grout sponge. Then we got into a variety of microfiber wash media, including plain old MF towels. Then TRC popularized "hybrid" drying towels, with the plush mixed with waffle (Pluffle, then Gauntlet), and we're back to sponges.

I realized quite a while ago this is just a "fashion" thing to get you to keep buying stuff, just like clothes. So yeah, rags and sponges.

I credit the Junkman for popularizing the Rag Company and truly believe they wouldn’t be what they are in the detailing world if it wasn’t for him. They owe that man a ton of gratitude but something tells me they probably screwed him… But like I said, I’ve never been a big fan of Rag Co. and don’t keep up with their content very closely, so I could be wrong, but Junkman seems to have disappeared.

As far as cotton towels, my father worked delivering linen for a big company for around 30yrs. and at one point started his own small business delivering cotton terry hand towels to local businesses, so I’ve pretty much got an endless supply of cotton terry towels at my disposal to this day. Lol.

When the dust settles, we will see Pan's line offers nothing new under the sun. It will just be another hyped brand that in reality offers marginal to zero benefits over any other existing brand. Whether it succeeds is anyone's guess. Next....

It is almost like there is a youtube detailer community that feeds itself off reviewing new products. It seems almost incestuous. They are buddies and support each other.

I saw another review of CBP (Clean by Plan) products and the reviewer got directly involved when he said he wanted support Pan and his products. No issue but he exposed his bias because I do not think there was a question his products would be garbage. The real issue is there are few quantitative reviews. Most are subjective (often on well maintained sometimes coated cars) and the YTD (You tube Detailers) are in a rush to be in getting in reviews while hype/interest is a peak. If you are going to test something, do it on a trashed vehicle.

And there is too much focus on scent! One reviewer kind of hit it with that since theare are so many are good products (all yield the same results) one is competing on the subjective aspects of the experience.

I do like how a product sold has an 8 year life yet was only developed in the past year. I did post a comment in one of Pan's videos on how he knew it was rated at 8 years for being developed. Obviously, it has to be a variation of an some pre-existing formula. I would like to see life rated via an industry test (even those these are not perfect).

"He wanted to support Pan"...I wonder who that was

The video was great and honest.

If I recall the art of selling is 3 steps: engage (get their attention), educate (explain in a way they can be so inclined to buy such as fear, need, etc.), sell (tell them why they need this product.
Came across a quote today that went along the line of this.....................

"A good salesman knows when to STOP selling. As in, once the money comes out of the wallet, stop selling, your job is done."

I liken that to what Pan did. He launched a brand and a line of products. Within hours of going on sale, each product sold out. Then he went in for the kill with his silly little awards show and over-baked the cookies. See, he should have "stopped" BEFORE that infamous video, his job was otherwise done.

I always thought it sold out quickly due to short supply, inflate the "want" that way

It is the affiliate programs that I believe contaminates the whole aspects of reviews where reviewer gets rewarded for putting out a good review that drives people to click links in their videos. I believe it takes away from more frank reviews. One reviewer sorta did this when he said that if you are in between rinseless and want to try something new consider this but still he gets rewarded for affiiate linkage.

You could call him “The Burnt Pan” “The UnClean Pan” “Pandamonium”

Now there's a blast from the past!!! He kinda "overly" dominated a detail section on a defunct Corvette forum for a while and if memory is correct was banned.
Here he is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvqM4p5XKdXiug656WLmuOg

He was banned? Wow I can just imagine. Lol.

Probably got overly frustrated with the people who he couldn’t convince to stop using cotton towels to dry their Corvettes or something. Lol.

As far as Pan, it seems like he shipped a box of his stuff to every youtube detailer in exchange for a review. So it’s no surprise they’re basically obligated to scratch his back…

Especially in this day when everyone’s afraid to speak their mind and god forbid offend someone and wind up getting “cancelled”… Or even worse, come face to face with them at SEMA.

I did watch Keavs video and I’ll give him credit for having a spine when he mentioned the scent.. He said “it smells like hair shampoo, what’s the big deal”? Lol.
