Need advice on PW hose

Could use some help sourcing a PW hose. I need to increase to 75' or 100'. Hose is currently on Cox reel with a wall mounted PW setup. Here's what I'm looking for:
- 3/8"
- The old Kobrajet Blue non marking hoses were great. I think they were single wire vs double wire and had NTP fittings. OG no longer carries them.
- Kobrajet's hose description on their website now states it has thicker wall which means not as pliable. Any one have experience with the newer ones?
- does not need to accommodate high pressure. Priority is minimal kinking and good pliability.
- Right now it looks like the best choice for my needs is OG's blue PW hose that is non-marking, single wire, and has NPT fittings on both ends, with one of them swiveling. I would like to find something cost effective, but still high quality but everything I've seen in my research is expensive, but that's the way things are now.

TIA for any guidance you can give me.
 
I think the smooth blue MTM Kobrajets are just a treat, especially with the included quick connects already fitted, one a swivel.

When we use them with a reel we remove one of the QC’s to attach directly to reel…and need 2 big wrenches to twist it off the hose

They are widely available if not thru OG

@BudgetPlan1 - thanks for the reply. So it sounds like these KobraJets are still pretty pliable and kink resistant then?

Good idea to get the ones with QC's on each end. Saves me transferring it from my other hose. Does one of the ends still have the NPT fitting that swivels to make it easier to attach to hose reel?

Both ends have the Quick Connects already attached, one is a swivel (the NPT fitting part). QC’s can be removed if desired.

It says Veloci as they are MTM distributor but it is a MTM hose.

I have the mid-range black non-marking (it was a freebie…beggars can’t be choosers) on my reel but if I was buying, the smooth blue would be my choice…just a better hose, more pliable.

Blue are definitely Solid hoses, we use them in our shops and they certainly take a lickin’ & keep on tickin’!

Why do you prefer 3/8 hose over a 1/4 hose?
Everyone says a 1/4 hose is much easier to move around with.

more water volume. Not concerned with high pressure.

I have Active PW hooked up and my priority is water volume....3/8 gives me a bit more ( or so I have always thought ) . With a good single wire hose you greatly minimize the stiffness normally associated with them.

I also have 4.0 nozzles to deliver as much volume from my particular PW and gun setup.

I hear you. I have a Ryobi which outputs much less water than your Active, but I also bought a 4.0 nozzle in hopes of getting more water out of my 40 degree nozzle. Testing it does show more water output into a bucket, but irl I don’t see a noticeable difference so it mostly collects dust.

I’ve also watched a review some guy has on the Adams pressure washer which is supposed to be premium level output and even with that machine he was highly disappointed with the post wash rinse so much that he said he strictly uses the garden hose nozzle to rinse instead of the power washer, so maybe using a 3/8 hose is the best bet if you can find the most pliable option.

It gets a little crazy when you start trying to make incremental improvements. I noticed a bit of a difference on my SunJoe PW, but it was a cheap way to experiment so it was worth it. I really noticed the difference on my Active ( I have the older 1.0) which has much better GPM specs.

For me it's all about how quickly I can start washing and finish, but without rushing so I can enjoy the experience as much as is reasonably possible. It use to take me forever to set up, trip over cords, keep running back and forth for brushes etc. Now I have the wall mounted PW, Cox Reel and a 50" hose, along with an MTM gun/wand/ cannon. I try to first use a RW or WW method, but if I bucket wash I do a prewash spray and rinse with it after . Since my vehicles are coated I will often just foam cannon and rinse and that's it. I have it hooked up to a Puretec DI tank so it can air dry. AZ has terrible water, and it's hot and sunny here so sometimes I just need a quick way to get it "pretty clean" and not worry about water spotting

Next on my "make it more efficient" list is buying a foam cannon with a wide mouth and get some extra bottles. I like to have my bottles ready to go and the old narrow opening bottles are a PIA to fill and tip over so easy. Ching-ching as we keep feeding our OCD with dollars to make our detailing experience "better" ! :)
 
If you’re looking for a wide mouth foam cannon that works great and is cheap I recommend the Gute.

The only thing I recommend doing to it is reinforcing the top by using crazy glue & baking soda to ensure it remains in one doesn’t crack over time.

Here’s the full details as I understand that might’ve been a bit vague…

This foam cannon is great, however a few of the reviews complain about the top becoming brittle and some people say it went to pieces on them… I thought it was just them being to hard on it or some fault of their own. However I looked at mine one day and noticed the beginnings of a couple of cracks in the tops plastic which could certainly lead to disaster.

So what I did was squeeze out a liberal amount of Crazy Glue all across the inner part of the top, then coated the glue with baking soda creating a hard as cement coating to reinforce the lid and prevent it from cracking into pieces one day.

For $16 bucks this thing foams like a champ. It’s the GUTE! Lol. It even comes with 2 different size orifices to suit the type of power washer you use.

Thanks for the writeup and pics to help me better understand the fix you mentioned. Never knew that about about crazy glue and baking soda. The things I learn on this forum!

Glad to hear they include the other sized orifice so they work better with electric PWs. Most of the cheap ones don't.

The cracking sounds similar to some of the issues I read about with HF foam cannons. I almost pulled the trigger on one when they had one of their insane sales but backed off. With your tip now I know how to armor plate this stuff! thx again!

I've got the 100 foot gray Kobrajet. It's pliable but it's also a bit on the heavy side compared to the old Flexilla I had. I've gotten used to it so I don't miss my Flexilla at all.

A couple of years ago when the cord on my Metro Sidekick went bad a friend of mine was able to fix it by installing a new cord…

However it stuck out of the hole with no way to keep it in place so that’s when the old Crazy Glue & Baking Soda hack came in handy once again. It’s been over 2yrs. and the cord hasn’t moved one bit. It’s on there solid.

I even fixed the nozzle head on my Bissell SpotPro like this after I accidentally snapped it off. Lol.
