What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

They have been good about this whole deal actually and I will let them know what my latest results are

The stuff is usable and after you get past the getting on the pad part I think it is a very nice product

They took care of me a couple years ago when the Ceramic AIO separation issue was going on

Great customer service in my opinion
I let Griot's know what the results of my testing was last week and they let me know today that they heard back from the guys in the white lab coats

I guess they pulled samples from the batch numbers I submitted and said, yeah, they were thicker than normal but they tested them and got the results I did, thick but still gets the job done

They told me to ALWAYS let them know if there is a problem and they will make it right

Great customer service just got upgraded to EXEMPLARY customer service

Wow, that's pretty amazing that they actually have batch samples. Unless they just have test data from those batches that they pulled up.

We've got some rain coming from tomorrow for a few days, so decided to do a treatment on the glass on the FJ. After some talk on one of the other threads, I decided to go with Rain-X. I wiped the front 3 windows with Eraser, I decided against polishing the glass, and just cleaned the remaining glass with Garage Therapy One Glass. Applied the Rain-X with some 8x8 blue lint free cloths I got from my old job in Sydney, obsolete stock, let it haze up, and got some fresh cloths and wiped it off with water spritzing method, with a final wipe with a dry one. I was originally only going to do the front 3 windows, but I gave in and did all the glass, although the back windows didn't get the same prep, so I'll see if there's a difference with repellency. I also gave the wiper blades a clean up with some 303 Aerospace Protectant, just to be thorough.

I am curious if 303 on the blades is a normal procedure for you?

I've done it previously, but most recently I clean them with a rubber restorer, then put some graphite powder on them, to reduce friction.

I actually thought I'd run out of the 303, then I found it hidden away a couple of weeks ago. With the rain coming, I should get to test it tomorrow.

Boy, I used to do that...haven't thought about it in a long time, I probably should, use up some of that 303 I have.

That sounds horribly messy, what do you do, rub it in?

Is the theory behind 303 on the blade that it helps preserve the material or it makes it slick and less chatter?

I’ve done the 303 on the wiper blade trick a bunch in the past also. I agree with “both” for reasoning.

About to take the family hauler Odyssey through the touchless. It’s that time of year where I’m done touching paint. Sadness.

That c8 looks awesome! Guessing they’re University of Miami alumni and/or fans based on the orange and green flooring?

Snuck a Griot's Garage Brillant Shine rinseless wash in after work, that 64 oz bottle is closer to be finished off

It was the usual single bucket, GD method wash, temps about 45 and overcast. Pre-treating each panel and I just moved around the EN easily, 5 Eagle edgeless mfs and designated mfs for the tires & wheels and an hour later I was done

I tried to take some different angles, showing the gloss as well as how the Michelin X-Ice's looked after a spray, dwell and wipe with the leftover RW

It's a little messy on my fingers, probably should wear gloves doing it, but it comes off easy enough with hand soap. It's not messy at all on the glass, most factory wiper blades come with a graphite coating. Locksmiths recommend graphite for lubricating locks, it's hydrophobic, and dust and dirt don't stick to it or clump potentially gumming up the mechanism. Glaco sell a graphite wiper blade, but show no hydrophobicity on it, I suspect this is because it doesn't leave a coating on the glass.

Underwhelmed with what the touchless car wash did today. It just doesn’t get the back tailgate of the van very clean. Tempted to buy a former and find whatever does a good job at getting mud/dirt loosened up well before entering the bay. Koch Chemie makes something good for that I believe?

Yeah touch-free washes NEVER get the rear/hatches. I'm sure Koch Chemie has a pre-wash that will help, something is better than nothing but I'd like to steer you towards Bilt-Hamber Touchless or Auto-foam...trust me
