My son just got a job at a body shop that is part of a Ford dealer. He is learning rotoary polishing and DA polishing to finish the paint before the customer gets the vehicle.
He asked his boss if he could Rinseless wash the cars when he was done or to clean the paint to see if he got the defects out, instead of driving the cars to the wash area for the new cars, which is across the street. His boss told him no since ONR uses polymers.

Has anyone heard if ONR is not body shop safe? I’m thinking his boss is not knowledgeable about Rinseless and thinking it leaves protection like a wax. If it’s not body shop safe, is there a Rinseless that is?

Optimum themselves indicates that ONR uses polymers (though no silicone) so it doesn't pass their Body Shop Safe test (no polymers). I'm curious about which rinseless products *would* be considered body shop safe?

I wonder what wash they are using "across the street" in the new car area? I mean I would be surprised if that wash didn't have polymers in it.

I asked the question on the OPT forum, so maybe your son will have an "official" response he can point to.

No it is not bodyshop safe. I contacted them before to ask.

It doesnt matter what they use in the wash bay across the street so long as it dosnt come right back over across the street to the paint/body shop. Thats where you woukd get your contamination

But Opie, that's what he's saying, his son wants to check his work by cleaning off the buffing residue with ONR, and his boss is telling him he has to go across the street to the new car wash area to do that, so yes, he's coming right back.

Answer from the Optimum forum:

" From Dr G - No Rinse Wash & Shine is {body shop} safe"

Opie, I didn't even see that you had posted that above. I went to OPT for a hard answer for the OP, not to stick it to you or anything.
