What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

It'll be at the front of the line now! I took a lot of time off around the holidays so that's going to be my time to go for it (if the weather plays nice this year)

It can be used wet or dry, just remember the base is Wolfgang Uber RW infused with Klasse sealant glaze, distilled water used but always shake well before using

I have often wondered what a single drop of various essential oils would do to a bottle of detailing product

Meg's Quick Interior Detailer has a fairly neutral scent and I though a drop of something citrus might perk it up

Probably not a good idea from a chemical standpoint though
I actually started using esential oils in the vehicles, and got rid of little trees. While ive loved black ice for years...they are just not good for ya so i finally kicked it to the curb.

Still on the search for the right one.

After an equally long time since my g/f's Cruze was washed I took it to the touch-free wash this evening. For the pre-wash I used a strong Bilt-Hamber Auto-foam as I finished up a prior jug and said "this one will be for a very dirty wash" and it was, her car was dirty

I won't be able to see how it did as it's dark but Bilt-Hamber never disappoints, at the very least I might do a WW on it tomorrow if I want it to be perfect. I'm also going to see how Darkside is doing since I was applied it a couple weeks ago...atleast I think it was a couple weeks ago

I am actually proud of myself for not losing it when it happened

DFB first described Pilot as having a "cologne" smell and I guess that could be accurate, way more chemically than fruity

I grew up in a house of smokers and I am highly sensitive to that smell

It is such a nice cleaner and leaves the best finish on my various Lexus surfaces but it just smells bad TO ME

Now, having said that, the smell doesn't stick around and by the next day it has dissipated, but still, we place a high value on "user experience" and using it is not pleasant TO ME

I don't care for the smell of Amplify or Adapt either, although Tire+ smells delicious

ADS Hero and Shampoo+ aren't particularly pleasing smells but aren't off putting and by the time they are diluted they cease to smell at all to me
No no no no, you are wrong! :ROFLMAO:

I actually asked ADS what the scent was called in Pilot and was told its "spiced pear". I adore it, and the rest of the ADS scents as well, I actually wish Pilot's would hang around more.

I can echo a similar situation with another interior detailer, Megs QID. I first tried the retail version and loved it, just a really nice all-round product that ticked all of my boxes. I loved it so much, I bought the gallon. But I quickly grew to hate the scent, it having a strange vinegar aroma. I know that the gallon size is known for its stinky aroma, but I actually found it got worse with age. I stopped using it because it made interiors smell like sweaty socks, totally ruined the user experience.

Also on "my good product ruined by the scent" list would include the alphabet soup tire cleaner from Turtle Wax. I can't stand it, but it doesn't bother others. Smells like hair removal cream. Yuk.

On the crap product, crap scent list, I'd add Meguiar's Leather Cleaner & Conditioner, which actually doesn't offer any cleaning ability, rather it just covers it up with a oil slick. That stuff stinks too, I ended up throwing most of the gallon I bought into the trash.

So you are agreeing that I am right?

Thanks

LMAO

I went back out to the garage with "spiced pear" in mind and tried again, and this time I actually got sort of a sweet note, and it may be the "spices" that I am objecting to, as I am not a big fan of most spices

I really like Megs Quick as well, although I have never bought anything but the spray bottle, although you aren't the only one with the smelly gallon experience

So the "stronger than normal" ratio of Bilt-Hamber Touchless REALLY cleaned the Cruze last night, ZERO road film and since it's almost 60 out I decided to apply some protection

I reached for Collinite Bead Coat sealant, hadn't used it yet so I went for it! Since the directions said to apply it to your microfiber, work it in and buff with a seperate towel. I chose my 350 GSM Eagle edgeless mfs and what a great choice, control due to 150 less GSM and no grabbing...PERFECT

This product got great reviews by Jon @Forensic Detailing and I can see why, finished WITHOUT any streaking or haze, just a simple wipe with that 2nd towel and SMOOTH & GLOSSY finish

I then finished up with a coat of Griot's Garage Black Shine tire gel using that "make up" applicator, love that tool for applying dressings, especially gels like this and Pure:est tire dressing! I know the tires look glossy but it levels down a bit and I'll check them at halftime of the first games on right now...IT'S BEAUTIFUL OUTSIDE

Finally had a moment to clean my vette! Topped it off with Polish Angel Cosmic Spritz and High Gloss. PA is expensive but a pleasure to work with!

Also gave the truck a quick wipe down after I installed the new tail lights. Next up will be new headlights. I am removing all of the chrome little by little! Lol

I couldn't agree more! I went to the dealer to check out a C8 since they are practically giving them away, but decided against it since they don't make Admiral Blue anymore and I'd never find this car again. This one will be my 1 and only vette and buried with me. Lol

Finished my weekend project and it’s the end of an era. This was my last two layer coating (CSL+EXO) as it’s time to switch to a one layer coating that will give me the same results.

On a side note, if you’re in the market for a small SUV that’s an EV this is a nice one. It’s so much better than a Model Y, which for some reason, everyone in my neighborhood drives.

I also decided to return my ADS Quartz Pro for a few reasons. The lack of packaging is part of it as this was to become my premium offering and I was going to update a photo on my website with the bottle and box. After watching a few more videos on the installation the common theme is that it’s tacky and the wipeoff isn’t as easy as I want to deal with. It reminds me a lot of P&S Legend which is another high solids coating and I’ll never use a coating that difficult to level.

CCI was my other option for a 3-5 year coating. The fact that my mentor uses it is enough of a co-sign for me to use it but I found out that the two owners of the company are two of the guys that led the course when I got my coating certification. Without them I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. Their philosophy is similar to ADS. They didn’t want to get involved with all of the social media detailing hype and wanted to create a no-nonsense coating that was easy to apply and performed. When you’ve met the people behind a product personally and you know that they’re a couple of standup guys that’s enough for me to give it a try.

Not only that but the C8 is FUGLY, it's never grown on me and never will. The front is "ok" but 3/4 to the rear... That said I know the perf variants (E-Ray/ZO6/ZR1) are incredible perf cars but you've still gotta look at it

The C7's are the last REAL Corvettes IMO

I agree! I got behind the wheel and couldn't even see the hood, which is another reason I loved mine so much. You should be able to see the wonderful corvette hood curves from behind the wheel. The wall of buttons between the passenger and driver is horrible. I'd drive a C8 ZR1 but I'd have to keep my c7 as well.

Had to work Saturday! 58-hour week. Good grief. New truck was clean one day this week when I picked it up. Then the storm hit. 40 or so today so hit that dirty truck! Good wash, interior. Tried out TW inside job. Nice product. Finished with wet wax as the drying aid. And Wheels got a shot of flex wax. Forgot how much black is a PITA to work on. EVERYTHING shows on it! On a good note, your first wash reveals flaws on the vehicle. Glad I did not find anything out of place.

Great work. And yes i have heard the same things about ads quartz pro. Which is why i will just continue to stick with ads quartz.

Hope cci works out for ya.

Also if i may ask since you have done these 5 year type coatings..do they really last/preform that long? Even with proper care?

Instead of the usual 4 oz/1 gallon I finished up a gallon of Bilt-Hamber Auto-foam and went 8-9 oz/1 gallon because I figured it would be used on a salt crusted Cruze. That said, it eliminated atleast a weeks worth of dust/dirt/grit, I just love Bilt-Hamber Touchless and Auto-foam.

I'm really looking forward to using it in the foam cannon at The Bays Wheeling! I've heard the PIR is basically 1:1 but I might try say 2:1 (2 parts water/1 part Bilt-Hamber) also ADS Decon wash but gotta email Bradley about the proper ratio(s) for it. I say ratios because I'll need one for CRUSTY and one for "average" muck
