What did you do today non-detailing related?

I miss in-car CD players but the truth is the majority of the car buying public had much more interest in being able to stream from their phones than they did in playing CD's . . . since to play them would require them to buy them in the first place. My 99 corvette had a 6-disc changer in the "trunk" (and a cassette player in the dash!) and my '05 Acura RL has an in-dash carousel that plays DVD-A and CD's. I really like that as the vastly greater storage capacity of a DVD allows me to burn my own with the equivalent of almost a dozen CD's. My '23 Bronco has a crappy sound system with a host of interfaces (but no CD) to input audio which it can then mangle.

Unless Lexus royally screwed up the wireless system (unlikely) I doubt you'll hear any difference playing the same music on the same device between wired and wireless (despite my inner audio purist wanting to say otherwise). Disclaimer: I have no direct experience with Carplay. That out of the way it's my understanding that the wireless streaming protocols available to us (Android Auto and Apple Carplay) are limited to the fidelity of "CD quality", which is what *most* people will have that carry ripped music on their phones (if that, many will rip at a lower quality to save space). It may be possible to play higher resolution quality music via storage plugged directly into a USB port on vehicles that support that (and even *possible* said device could be a phone being used as a storage device, though I'm thinking that's a fringe case). In general this would be using a memory stick or portable SSD with a USB interface. Even with this solution, though, a remaining unknown is the capability of the on-board DAC in the vehicle's audio system and the system itself which may or may not support super-fancy hi-rez formats.

FWIW I keep a 128GB thumbdrive plugged into one of the USB ports just as an alternative should my phone flake out, break, etc. but I almost never use it.

TL;DR - I doubt you'll notice any difference between wired and wireless if you are using the same phone/device to stream music to your car's audio system (esp. between '20 and '24 models). The only differences should be related to the actual source material.
I certainly don't miss the CD changer, in fact I had to borrow a CD from my daughter to try the one in the 2020 because all mine were packed away (I still haven't found them)

I need to remember to give it back to her

:ROFLMAO:

The other day a song came on and I was shocked at the clarity of the music and I made a mental note to remember the song

I've already forgotten

Did I mention I am 69 years old?

My most recent CD purchased, admittedly more than 4 years ago, were some remastered Beatles and Pink Floyd albums. None of which I previously owned, although I did have them all digitally. I should go and test them with the new speakers.

Neighbours were in Hobart on Switzerland 🇨🇭 passport duties,
So I mowed their lawns... let's say 15inch long so I had to do something about it, was driving me nuts because they have 3 dogs and the thought of one of them getting snake bit was a concern.

A couple of hours later and a sweaty bum it was done!
I told him to cut it Friday as we have had 117 ml of rain.

Fingers crossed 🤞

The snakes have been very active around here already up here, I saw a red belly being swooped by a couple of myna birds last week, right next to the pathway, he was pretty agro, so we gave him a wide berth. Better safe than sorry.

I had to look after them today let them out for a run poo/wee etc, haven't seen any tiger snakes yet and don't want to.

So thinking about this it suddenly occurred to me that even if I found all my old original CDs, I have no way to re-rip them at a higher quality level

When my last PC died years ago and I switched to a MacBook Air I lost the ability to do anything with CDs/DVDs

I always intended to buy an external drive but in the Mac OS world I never needed to run software from a CD and slowly I just kind of decided I didn't need one

With summer here and plenty of rain over the last couple of weeks, the grass is now growing like crazy! On one small-medium backyard alone, I filled a 240-litre (63-gallon) bin to the brim with clippings, and needed a separate 270-litre (71-gallon) garden bag for the rest of the property. Similar story with my other clients.

Mower of choice at the moment, my new (10-year-old) Rover ProCut which has a full width discharge chute, vital on tall/thick grass to prevent blockages.

I've also put an exhaust tip on the muffler. After considering many different designs.......................................

........................................... I decided to keep it subtle looking by going with an OEM part............................................ :ROFLMAO:

Driving back from town on Friday I saw a Lucid car go by me

I had zero idea what it was or anything about it so I looked it up

I am not sure which model it was but I did clearly see the Lucid logo across the back

We don’t even have a Tesla dealer up here so seeing an EV from a niche brand is unusual

It is also interesting that despite not having a dealer up here, there are a few locations with elaborate genuine Tesla recharging stations

Those Lucid Aire's really stand out on the road, especially in nice colors with a contrasting roof color

Chilly did you read about their perf version called the Sapphire

No, I just read enough to help me figure what it was that I saw

I have zero interest in a full EV car and don’t understand the draw up here, especially buying a brand with zero dealer support

I have spoken to several EV owners who have had cold weather issues from outdoor parking

Not sure why you would want to go that route

But to each their own

Yeah I can't see them being "a thing" up there for sure, unless you plugged it in everyday inside a heated garage

Well the one I'm talking about has something like 1250 hp and great range AND can handle somewhat for a big, heavy sedan

The incredible HP numbers that EVs are capable of is certainly intriguing

Part of my angst with EVs is the lack of understanding regarding "emissions" and "carbon footprint" and the horrendous mining and human rights conditions to produce the battery packs and all that stuff on the part of the public and the blind faith that they are helping the environment and the rest of us are ignorant uncaring Neanderthals

Like so many "causes", it gets old

Like I learned from Rush, they are to be judged on their INTENSIONS, never the RESULTS
