What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Took advantage of the warmish day. Oil change, swapped to winter set. Gave the winter runners 2 coats of ADS ghost...so far digging the look. I would have normally picked the one coat look but thought 2 might get me tick more durability.

Pretreat spray with primus 2.0 1:30 on the lower sides to kill off the heavy salt. Foamed with primus 2.0 1:10. Next sprayed purifica 1:20 to rid the surface of any limescale. Followed by a rinseless with ADS hero. Nice product. Finally prep spray wipedown, the application of ADS phobic. Gonna run this and see how it does on our own vehicle finally.

Great work. And yes i have heard the same things about ads quartz pro. Which is why i will just continue to stick with ads quartz.

Hope cci works out for ya.

Also if i may ask since you have done these 5 year type coatings..do they really last/preform that long? Even with proper care?

I haven’t been doing coatings long enough to see if any have made it to 5 years but I will say that 0% of my customers that got an up to 5 year coating will ever get there. From the ones I have been in contact with they don’t keep up with any kind of maintenance routine.

My mentor has seen coatings last over 4 years so I guess it can happen. That 5 year rating will probably only be achieved by a vehicle that is well maintained and garage kept and that’s why I always describe the coating as a 3-5 year coating and I stress that maintenance is the number 1 factor is determining it’s longevity. I try to give a realistic expectation that if the vehicle is a daily driver that sits in the open air all of the time you should be able to expect around 3 to 3.5 years with a good maintenance routine.

Honesty right here

Thanks for the info there. I also stress maintance and try to tell folks what they need to do to make it last but most don't. It's very sad. Had a buddy a few years ago on his previous new truck(2022) want it coated, gyeon pure Evo was dead a year later with no revival due to him only hand washing it once.

I did have someone make it 2 years with can coat Evo.

I've never let a coating go over 2 years on our personal vehicles yet without recoating/topping or repolishing, since they sit outside 24/7

Instead of the usual 4 oz/1 gallon I finished up a gallon of Bilt-Hamber Auto-foam and went 8-9 oz/1 gallon because I figured it would be used on a salt crusted Cruze. That said, it eliminated atleast a weeks worth of dust/dirt/grit, I just love Bilt-Hamber Touchless and Auto-foam.

I'm really looking forward to using it in the foam cannon at The Bays Wheeling! I've heard the PIR is basically 1:1 but I might try say 2:1 (2 parts water/1 part Bilt-Hamber) also ADS Decon wash but gotta email Bradley about the proper ratio(s) for it. I say ratios because I'll need one for CRUSTY and one for "average" muck

Auto Foam for me is about 14 oz in the foam cannon to get that lovely 4% PIR and that’s what I use on filthy cars that haven’t been washed since the Panthers had a winning season. It does makes the contact wash extremely easy but it can and will strip waxes and cheap sealants. I’ve seen many vehicles come in with pretty good water beading and by the time I’m done with the contact wash it’s completely flat. Seven ounces of Touch-Less gets the same level of clean but 4 ounces is almost just as good. I used to apply BH with my Foam Pro 12 because it was more economical but with Touch-Less requiring much less product to get the job done I’ve gone back to using my foam cannon with my pre-wash.

The car looks good, has a mean all business look. The pic is deceiving, the rear tires look very wide.

Did you ever encounter touchless staining plastics? I ask because i have, curious if anyone else has. Thats why i have not finished the half gallon i have left, ive switched to labocosmetica products and have no worries.

I have been using 5oz to a gallon which was your suggestion a year or so back and honestly I think I am going to crank it up to 8oz per gallon for the winter

I am using the middle IK foam generator and I think I will dry the dryer foam generator and see if I can get some more hang time

Part of the issue is I am using it in the parking lot of the tunnel wash so the temperatures can be hugely variable and really affects the consistency and dwell time of the foam

Thankyou. They are wider than stock, 245's on a 9 or 9.5 wide wheel( i cant rememeber of hand). They are stretched a little but the wheels were free from a buddy and if i went with a wider tire they would rub on the struts.

I say this as a joke, i sell AARP memberships in the summer and sling drugs in the winter

Ill say it again...im joking lol

Are you foaming the Primus 1:10 with a foam cannon or an IK type foaming sprayer

1:10 in foam cannon

Thanks

And I have to assume you feel that following up those 2 PH extreme chemicals with a rinseless wash is sufficient to effectively flush them out and off the surface?

Ive never even gave it a thought to be honest bud. I did not notice anything out of the ordinary during the rinseless wash.

I couldn't agree more! I went to the dealer to check out a C8 since they are practically giving them away, but decided against it since they don't make Admiral Blue anymore and I'd never find this car again. This one will be my 1 and only vette and buried with me. Lol

Corvette's aren't a frequent sighting here, the C8 is the only model to ever go on sale officially, the rest being private imports. However, the last couple of days, I've seen three out on the road, one in Black, one in Arctic White and one in Torch Red. The white and black examples caught my attention, but I didn't look back. The red one instantly caught my eye and for a second, I though it looked quite good. Looking back in the mirror, I then thought nope, that rear end completely ruins the design.

What's so sad about the C8 is how management ruled how the car looked, not the designers. At the time, GM crowed on about how they needed to take Corvette into a new era for a new generation. As in, they wanted to attract younger customers. Which, when you think about it, makes complete sense as older Corvette fans stop buying, and new generations start to become the target customer. But then what did they do? The marketing department insisted on being able to fit golf clubs in the trunk. Why? Why on earth would you buy a mid-engined sports car and take it to a golf club? I can almost guarantee that a potential Corvette customer is buying one as a second vehicle, so they'd have another vehicle to transport gold clubs with.

So, the whole golf club thing ruins the potential of the mid-engine layout by compromising the overall chassis and styling balance. They may as well kept it as a front engine platform. And that makes me annoyed because it's both arrogant and contradictory to the original intent. Seriously, do they really think someone wouldn't buy a Corvette because it wouldn't carry a golf bag?

The only one I've seen here was white, it was the shape rather than the colour that caught my attention. The owner was standing next to it smoking a cigarette, at least he wasn't sitting in the car doing it. Over here this one would be almost $200k, the Z06s are listing for more than double that.

Yeah give it a try but the issue with drier foam is that it doesn't run enough, thus not running the muck and everything to the ground

I am just kind of wondering if they were similar to BH Auto Foam and required a high pressure rinse

That has kept me from trying BH AF as a pretreat before a rinseless during the winter

Guess I need to study up on the Labo products
