What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I gave the FJ a little tidy up today, it got driven in the rain last week, not that it was too dirty. And it's hot outside today so I moved it inside for a RW with Ech2o. Went over all the glass with Carpro Clarify Phobic, and Carpro Perl on the tyres, I may have gone a bit heavy on the back left tyre as I did that one first. And finally, I took the wiper blades off, and put some graphite powder on them, Rain-X on the windshield and 303 Aerospace Protectant on the blades definitely equals chattering in light rain.

I'll post better pictures Mid January at the AZ Concours. Garage photos don't do it justice!
Maybe 6/7 years ago went to visit some friends in Ft Wayne, IN. He took us to a nice car show that featured Auburns & Cords. Great show. Can't recall which of the two but one of those were built in Ft Wayne.

***FIRST TIME WASHING AT THE BAYS***

I've been looking forward to this for a loooong time, let's do this

I started with trying a new product for the wheels, CarPro WheelX and ADS Tire Cleaner for the Michelin X-Ice's. After watching a couple videos it looks like WheelX is spray on, hose off and I'm sure it "could" be used like that but maybe next time, today all 4 brushes used and as you can see...came out great

Next was the pre-wash and for that I had a sample of CarPro Iron carwash something or another, 1.7 oz bottle, added 10 oz of Bilt-Hamber Touchless and 20 oz of water and foamed it down...perfect ratio and even had enough left over! Upon rinsing...OMG the beading still, OFF THE CHARTS

Next on to the 2BM and for this another new product...Feynlab PURE wash, 4 oz to 4 gallons and damn does this just finish it off nicely, rinsed CLEAN (not THAT clean, no way does he have anything like that)

While wet still I used 3 spray on, hose off products for certain parts of the EN:

1. Gyeon WetCoat for the grill, lower black sections and my awesome exhaust tips.

2. Pure:est S1 for the p/s wheels

3. ADS EZ Beads for the d/s wheels

It's going to be interesting to see how these compete...REAL WORLD test in progress starting TODAY

I moved the EN over to the drying/detailing area where I applied 2x's ADS Ghost to the Michelin X-Ice's & wiped down the entire interior with Griot's Garage Interior Detailer. Next was CarPro Clarify Phobics to all exterior glass, I made sure to leave my windows a little wet, stuff if finicky but now that it's dialed in...

Now I'm waiting for 3 Discord mem ers to show up, too bad I can't be 3 places at once, so my almost 55 year old ass will be hustlin'

This place is THEE best therapy

Klasse,
As always your car looks great. Quite the cocktail of products used today.
Just curious. How do they charge at that very nice looking facility? Is it a flat fee for washing or do they charge x amount for the time your vehicle occupies a slot? Any extra charges such as use of their hose and water/ electricity or do they just supply the slot period and all equipment/supplies are on the vehicle owner?
It is a unique concept and never heard of anything like that here.

Klasse can fill in the "details" as to the specifics of his options but here's a link to the basics. I've been to the Wheeling site (I presume that's where Klasse went) for a detailing class and it's very nice. If I lived a little closer it would be a good option for some quasi-regular winter cleaning but it's a bit too far from me not to get all mucked up all over again on the way home.

I got in on a Black Friday sale where I paid $399 for the 3 hr per month deal for 12 monthes, basically 47% off so I jumped on it! You get to use their equipment, even wash buckets, grit guards, EGO dryers and ofcoarse it's climate controlled. If I need addition hours after my 3, it's $22.00 an hour (non-members $30.00 an hour). Additionally I get a 5% discount on detailing products in their store.

They've got franchise options, give them a call at The Wheeling or Bolingbrook locations

A little side note, this ADS Quartz Coating on the EN...INCREDIBLE️Foaming the car with Bilt-Hamber Touchless, THEE best pre-wash on the market IMHO, was being rejected after a bit, a strong pH product ad you guys know and then using Feynlab PURE wash for the 2BM, either one, after rinsing, the beading was just INCREDIBLE and those of you with a garage and have a power washer...remember there's those not as lucky, atleast I get to use proper equipment once or twice a month now, so when using the hose and foam gun come spring, atleast my paint will be reset monthly in the future

Had my first experience with wet sanding. A poor, innocent college girl was sideswiped by an elderly man who fled the scene and left some nice paint transfer on the passenger door. The paint is already thin and covered in water spots so I did a light sanding with 3000 grit and it took out the lighter areas of transfer. According to Brian from Apex Detail, a finishing polish should remove the sanding marks from 3000 grit and in this case it did not and at that point I was in a full blown panic.

I have yet to cause damage to a customer’s vehicle and I was sure this was going to be the first but I stepped back for a second and calmed down. I cracked open a bottle of Rupes Coarse and a blue Lake Country pad and that did the trick. Then followed up with a black finishing pad and M205 to bring out maximum gloss. I was hoping for perfection but sometimes that not’s achievable and the areas that took the brunt of the impact were down to the base coat so there was nothing outside of repainting that can fix that. The parents were more than pleased and were looking for any level of improvement since they didn’t want to go through insurance and will be bringing their other daughter’s car by soon.

When it was over I saw a car with severe water spotting and clear coat failure in a few spots but they saw shiny and were happy.

Just curious. If you wanted to go twice a month from now through March and then skip April through September using the balance of your slots after September is that something they would permit?

Also i assume this is the first time you ceramic coated your car. What type of lifespan are you expecting from the ADS Quartz?

Someone in pa should open a franchise. (You)
I ran my own business for 15 years. Im retired so im on coast now. I do a little remodeling from time to time for some cash but thats about as far as im willing to go at this point.

Hours are allowed to roll over up to 90 days if you paid full price, I got mine on sale, thus not being allowed to do it. I'll still go once the weather is nice, I've got ADS Phobic to try and wanna apply that inside so it can start to cure properly, that comes this spring

I actually coated my car back on 9/13/22, Gyeon Q2 Pure EVO, was pretty happy with it, just decided to apply this ADS Quartz after my coating was a little over 2 years old. I'm expecting 3 years out of this ADS Quartz, especially using quality toppers and the very best stronger pH pre-wash soaps as well as quality 2BM soaps

I enjoy the process, been using ceramic coatings for almost 10 years, they've gotten better and easier to apply

That's a good deal.

I cleaned and dressed my summer wheel/tyre combo. TWHS Hyper Foam on the tyres, front and back, plenty of brown coming off the back, the wheels haven't been on the FJ for 4 years, so I gave them a wipe over with a damp MF and put some more 303 Touchless Sealant on them. Finished off by dressing the tyres with Carpro Perl, front and back. After putting them on I went for a test drive, had a little bit of oversteer turning on to the street, so there may have been a bit of Perl over spray on the tread. The may only stay on till my first drive in the rain, I remember them being a bit slippery, but I want to test them off road in the next couple of weeks.
