What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I washed and waxed my brother's car earlier this year, and I know he hasn't touched it since, why would he, the dealer washes it every time it goes in for a service.
I coated it because he has a highly disabled son and he could at least foam it down, rinse and use his industrial strength leaf blower and give it a touchless wash until he has time to give it a good hand washing but nothing in over 6 months. At least today’s washing inspired/shamed him into vacuuming the interior.

Which coating?

While it was filthy before (to be fair my vehicles can look worse after a mile down the dirt road if it’s raining), it looks beautiful now. Great work!

The only things stopping my brother from washing it himself are the lack of space, he has almost no driveway or lawn, he's short, as in he can't reach the roof, and he's self diagnosed ADHD, too easily distracted.

Your Brother and BIL would wash/clean/take care of their vehicles if it was a priority. To them it is not.
Which I find a bit odd due to the crazy cost of a new vehicle today. I want to prolong that fleecing as long as possible.

This is exactly what I was thinking. The age of the cheap car is over so I don’t understand why people don’t protect their investment. People spend 5+ years paying for something just to let it go to hell from day 1.

X2.
In addition almost everyone around me has a two car garage. However several of their garages are filled with crap and they have $100K worth of vehicles sitting out in the elements in their driveway. Which makes no sense as everyone around here has a basement. Unless their basements are filled with more crap.

This is a street view of my brother's house, yes, he has a double garage, but the left door is almost impossible to get a car in anyway, and yes, it is full of crap, in his case books and his martial arts training gear. You can see how he basically has no driveway to wash a car in. Both their cars are Bitsashiti Outlanders, so they really wouldn't fit in the garages anyway.

Most houses over here don't have a basement, or an attic either, so most people store their crap they won't throw away in their garages, if their lucky they can still get one car in, as we do. But the FJ stays outside mainly, while it is worth more than the Qashqai, it's paint is much less sensitive (water spotting) to the elements.PSX_20241228_121020.jpg
Oops, forgot the picture.

I have a two car garage which has a lot of stuff in it and most of it is automotive related and tools. I have tons of tools . But i also have 2 vehicles in there with enough room around them. I have a basement and much of it is finished.
However I also have a 12ft x 24ft x 11ft high shed. That is where I keep a lot of my crap such as lawn equipment, snow blower, bicycles, a lot more tools and car parts, etc. That is my saving grace. Don't know what I would do without the shed.

Basements are a great thing to have as long as they are dry which mine is. It gives one a place to store their stuff. Almost all houses here have a basement. It's a very cost effective way to increase the footprint of your house.

Dave that blue is such a nice color and you get great reflections from it.

Today I vacuumed my wife’s Honda Oddysey, then wiped down the console, dashboard, door panels etc with Adam’s interior detailer. Then I used Griots Leather 3 in 1 Spray on the seats. First time using it, nice product. No shine/greasiness left behind. Just looks like a new leather seat (which it is newer, 7,500 miles).

Today temp was in the 50s so i did a rinseless wash on the Tacoma and the CRV. Used Optimun Hyper Foam on both. Used Road Warrior on wheels and tires on both and applied with my IK Foamer 2. Drying aid was my Optimum secret sauce which i applied to the wheels as well.

The more i use the Optimum Hyper Foam the more i like it. Its a good cleaner but i keep it from foaming on the presoak. Apply the presoak 256:1 with my Multi Pro 12. The bucket is 256:1 as well which is minorly sudsy on the wash.

Ive got a bottle of Feynlab rinseless V3 but havent tried it yet. Be interesting to see how that compares to the Hyper Foam.

Wow, didn't know anything about Optimum Hyper foam til I read your post BLM.
Thanks for that. I read the past thread about it and ordered a gallon from the online retailer for overnight delivery.

Just what I need is another gallon of detailer stuff, hopefully I like this stuff...lol
We will se if that even happens but I want to give it a try tomorrow with the IK 12 foamer.

I figure I will shoot it, then rinse with Mckees 914 in a garden sprayer as a RW prerinse.
My car is somewhat loaded with snow storm residue, hopefully it works to get the grit off safely.
I really don't want to deal with the hose, pressure washer and moving a car out of the garage.

Well this turned "detailing related" but bought 3 sections of brand new WeatherTech liners yesterday for my g/f's new ride...late Christmas gift, the advantage of being 25 minutes away from The WeatherTech Factory Store

Once home I treated the new liners with DIY Detail Interior Clean and Protect, removed the factory mats and rear liner, vac'd it out and installed the brand new WeatherTechs...perfect fit

I haven't posted pics of her new ride yet because I wanna do a mini exterior Detail first:

-ADS Decon wash
-CarPro Reset 2BM wash
-ADS EZ Beads
-ADS Tire Cleaner
-Pure:est S1 (for the wheels)
-ADS Ghost tire coating

I'm going to use my entire 3 hrs at The Bays for this next Saturday, hopefully, as long as nothing gets in the way...THEN I'll post pics of her new ride, stay "tuned"

Does your WeatherTech provide free coffee and pastries too? I admit I do a lot more looking there than buying since they opened up here a few years ago. Suppose it is a win-win though as I have a few WT items around the house I would never buy otherwise.

You guys are going to think the following is BS but is not. We have a place here called Mac Bid. They sell returns, discontinued, etc products from Amazon, Lowes, etc. and everything from A to Z.

This summer I got a complete set of all weather mats for my wifes CRV, front, rear seat and cargo for $1.00. They were brand new unused. Not Weathertech brand but very comparable to Weathertech. Was a great score as the CRV only came with carpeted mats for front and rear and the cargo is carpet but had no mat.
