Well that's sure encouraging. I assume Hyundai picks up the tab for that so you won't be out of pocket? Good timing if you can get it fixed this time of year as it's prime touchless wash season. 🥶🧑‍🎄

That is encouraging, I genuinely hope your issue gets fixed.

Case manager will be calling me next week, might have to replicate it...again, for the TSB to be performed

I'm trying to be proactive over here, just do the "fix" on this 2nd knock sensor and call it a day, I don't want the issue to rear it's head...AGAIN

Replicate it again? Damn, that sucks. BTW isn't that your 3rd sensor, I thought they'd replaced it twice already?

If I replicate it again that one would be #3, same amount of horns have been replaced

That's rediculous if you have to demonstrate it again. The fact they already see all the work done in your service record should be more than enough for them to do the TSB.

Since it's such a widespread problem, I'm surprised they require anything at all. Other TSB's I've encountered required far less in order for the work to be done, especially for something dealing with electronics. Often they read something like, "if customer complains of XXXX and code YYYY is found then perform this TSB".

Spoke to the case manager yesterday and as predicted, I've gotta replicate the issue, thus meaning a T H I R D knock sensor to be replaced as it's apart of the TSB

I'm over here trying to be proactive, not inconvuence myself or family, instead now I've gotta HOPE for it to trigger, again, to then have this "fix" done, common sense is not so common as the saying goes. I don't know why they just don't make it something between a recall & TSB, like in my case, I've had the issue TWICE, now a fix is available...FIX IT...BEFORE it happens again

Luckily for me the touch-free wash is very close to both the dealership and my work and only 3.5 miles from home but the thought of them NOT having a rental concerns me, I've gotta have a car

In other news I'm going to try my tune again as I didn't see how it would be with the stock coils AND my stock plugs. The stock plugs never had the MSD coils firing them and is it possible that that MSD coils "could've" been an issue here? I've sent a polite email to the tuner about this, my frustration was caught by him and he wasn't happy with me. Between my dyno pull failure, 1st tune, the knock sensors and the 2nd tune with partial throttle issues I was pretty pi$$Ed off, I just my no octane learning and extra 30 hp and 50 ft lbs back...PLEASE

That's so frustrating, maybe a polite email to Hyundai, not the dealer, explaining that a third failure would make you cranky, and vocal negatively towards the brand. Whereas a proactive approach in fixing it before another failure would lead to a more positive attitude towards the brand.

This is why I contacted Hyundai corporate, not my dealership. We plan on stopping by the dealership today, after I do the mini detail on Amy's new ride, "just to see/hear" what they actually say. I know it's going to be more of the same but I wanna look them in the eye, tell em' what I plan on doing going forward and expect to see me back at some point and to have a rental car available, I'll even take one of those IONIC5's that have weeds growing around them

Are you still holding us all in suspense over what the ride is, or did I miss the reveal?
No, you didn't miss it Dave, I'll have a seperate thread for it today in off-topic. It's a pretty nice ride, she REALLY likes it, an upgrade from the Cruze

Really? They were in pretty short supply around here, unless that was just the N that I looked up after you posted about it a year or more ago. I actually see a fair number of 5's on the road around here.

Those Ioniq5s are super cool. I rode in one but I didnt get the full tilt boogie demo. Still cool.

I like the IONIC5, the 6 even more but they just aren't selling and for all EV's I'm getting Beta Max vibes if you guys remember that. I mean Tesla is still going to Tesla, that Kool-Aid mix there is strong and that's fine, if you like it I'm glad you've got that choice

These are both 18"
I think these look great. 18's ride so much nicer. When I picked my car out my wife was shocked that I didn't order the 19's or even outfit it with the performance wheels. I wanted better efficiency but honestly, I wanted a better ride. Besides, less worries on winter roads. Good luck and looking forward to what you pick.

Funny you mention this. It must be a regional thing. Around me, Tesla's are far more abundant than any other EV and are just as common as other cars on the road. Still don't match the number of trucks and SUV's, but there are a lot of them. However, when I was in Seattle for Christmas, Ionic5's were EVERYWHERE, like there was a Pez dispenser spitting them out for free somewhere. I also noticed when looking at Turo for our next trip to that area, there were a large number to rent for very competitive rates.

Anyway, back on topic. I hope a quick run to the touchless will trigger the light and get this ball rolling and gets you one step closer to having the tune work properly. I still can't believe you have to do "octane learning" in that car.

Wait you think the tune issue has something to do with this knock sensor nonsense

Not really, but I think it will be much easier to trouble shoot and focus the tune issues if you know everything is else is working properly.

The tuner blamed the knock sensor at one point
