Clean up after once in a lifetime dust storm in Chicago on Friday. One minute it was bright and sunny and then it looked like a tornado was coming through.

That dust storm that came through was no joke. I thought the thick fog had moved in again but it was actually a giant cloud of dust that moved up from downstate and engulfed the City. I didn't realize until I was downstairs grocery shopping and a couple guys were talking about having to clean the filth and dust off their cars just to drive to work. Here's a pic of it further out on its way here.

Got the sap mist taken care of first thing this morning, now it's ready to head to FuelFed Barrington C&C. Although not in the show ofcoarse it's going to be sitting clean, plus my daughter is going with me

Exotic cars and owners... Wonder how much room is over there, might try and drive through. I see they're an exhaust shop, my exhaust tips are pretty exotic

Not sure what this staining is, but it wins. Lol. Hood is aluminum, so it's obviously not rust. It's on the paint, whatever it is. It laughs at Sonax Cut & Finish.

Looks like rail dust impeded in the paint, so yes it is rust....iron remover will get rid of it...

Looks like rail dust impeded in the paint, so yes it is rust....iron remover will get rid of it...

It's awfully isolated to be rail dust...it's nowhere else on the entire vehicle. I understand what it looks like, but I never met fallout that wasn't removed with polish and elbow grease. Next wash I'll experiment with Iron-X.

The pollen is mad right now. Worst I've seen it in Cleveland for a long time. I watched a bird take off from a branch a few days ago and a ton fell off the branch when it took off. I watched the cloud move across the backyard. My Jetta is trashed right now, it needs a wheels-off decon it hasn't been this filthy in three years or so, when it was last playing the roll of daily.

Truck looks good. Black is so nice, when its clean lol. I divorced dark colors years ago.

I think the pollen here is actually getting better now. That being said, this was from cleaning off my windshield.

It’s weird because the birch pollen here is 500% over normal and hardly anyone remembers it ever being worse

Stuff is yellow here

Plus I wish I owned stock in Kleenex because everyone is sniffly and sneezy

Actually poached it from NYT story on the storm, all the other pics I found were hard linked into Twitter, FBook, etc. (and many of them were MUCH better). I didn't think to take a shot outside my window as I just thought it was the thick fog we'd seen several times this week (albeit very oddly colored) - we get fog so thick I can't see the street below or the buildings across the street. This was just like that . . . except weird. Local story said it was only the 2nd time anyone could find on record a weather alert in Chicago for severe dust storm. After hearing/reading of the effect and aftermath very thankful I'm parked multiple levels underground!

This evening I got after the TAOS, yesterday's post Chicago dust storm cleaning at the touch-free wash only got it "good enough", water spots leftover from that

Real quick I foamed all 4 tires w/ Griot's Garage Foaming tire cleaner and let dwell for the next step

I then started w/ 3 oz of CarPro Descale in my Griot's Garage foam gun and let dwell, rinsed and got ready for the 2BM wash

For the 2BM wash I used 4 oz of Feynlab PURE wash and my wash pad, forgot the mfg and my trusty Griot's Garage mit on a stick to clean this thing up...PROPER

On the bottom of our planet there's Dave maintaining his better halfs beautiful purple/blue SUV, I'm just trying to keep up, tip of the cap Dave

I forgot how hard it is to get good reflection shots with white under artificial light. Anyways...using Gtechniq QD for the first time. Took her out for an hour or so spin today and got dusty. It smells like an APC, feels sticky with a lot of drag while spreading, but flashes wonderfully. I like the sprayer it comes with, too, despite being non-adjustable and only having one spray setting, but it's a good setting.

Overall I'm pleased with the brand with the two products I've used this far. Haven't used the citrus foam yet but looking forward to trying on the Jetta, it would be a wonderful test vehicle for a pre-wash solution cause it's filthy.
