Is it normal dust & dirt? Or hazing that was created by maybe using the wrong cleaning product on it? Are you trying to clean it? Or correct a defect?

Correct a defect from improper cleaning.

If it's smeared from improper cleaning (armor all rag) put a dab of Vaseline on a (clean) microfiber rag and spread it around.
Once done with that wipe clean
If it's just hazy from being old (and it's plastic) try Plastix by meguiars using the same process as mentioned above.
