What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

After a few years of removing iron from cars my driveway is less than pristine. Took some time to do some concrete iron removal. Both sides of the driveway have been pressure washed thoroughly but it’s obvious which side was treated with the iron remover. Color me impressed. Now I’m wondering if this stuff is safe for cars. Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

A surprise thunderstorm made me move the grill into my garage to finish dinner yesterday so I decided to give it a quick wash. The CanCoat is still going strong but decided to give it a boost with some Cure for the hell of it.

Deep cleaning the grill is my next project

Yuck

That was actually a use for the thioglycolates before someone realized we auto enthusiasts would pay more for a wheel cleaner that changed colors. If it's still somewhere, 3D had a video with Tunch talking about it and going outside his office to spray the sidewalk.

Mine is making a new tank heat shield for my grill.

I had them plumb the new house with a natural gas outlet on the patio

It took some doing to actually get a natural gas grill but man oh man, that thing gets HOT and will put one hell of a sear on a steak

Plus no tanks to change

This is what I used. Doesn’t change colors and make for cool photo ops but if it is safe on automotive paint it would save us all a hell of a lot of money.

Washed two cars yesterday. I'm still loving Griot's Foaming Surface Wash and Foaming Polygloss. So easy.

It cleans well, is slick, and very forgiving to use in full sun. I do use my de-ionizer for the whole process, (not just for the final rinse). The drying towel just glides and dries instantly.

Oh, I thought you used a detailing product. Yikes, that stuff you used sounds like an ABF/HF product from the warning on the front--I still can't believe they sell stuff like that at retail--HF is really nasty stuff.

It’s pretty safe from what I could see. No odor. Used my Multi Pro 12 and it was a simple spray on and rinse off process. I’ll be ordering two more bottles to finish off the driveway and have the best looking driveway/sidewalk in the neighborhood.

I lost a Gloss Pad while polishing a customers truck today… It’s amazing, and I guess the man upstairs has granted me a bit of sheer luck a few of times now, because I don’t fully know how I’ve somehow survived this happening more than a couple of times now and somehow came out of it unscathed…

I hadn’t even used that pad all that much, but it had been a long time since I had used it. I was using it with some Meguiars Ultimate Polish, another thing I hadn’t used it a very long time. Reason being was the paint was still in like new condition but I had just used some aggressive clay on the hood and there was very minor tick marks/fine tiny scratches afterwards and I figured that was the combo I wanted to use.

I changed over to a Lake Country White Flat Foam Polishing Pad, finished the hood, and the rest of the truck was lsp ready, no need to polish it + it’s white.

It’s a 2021 Nissan Titan Limited Platinum Edition [or whatever the special badging states] with only 6,000 miles on it. It’s like brand new and has real nice premium leather interior.

I applied some Nextzett Glass Sealant to the Qashqai. Cleaned the inside of the windshield first with some Scheiben-Klar, then did the dash with some Cockpit Premium, because I got some over spray. Then wiped over the windshield and rear glass with Carpro Eraser and let it sit for half an hour. Next I applied the sealant with some paper towels, watched some YouTube for another half an hour while it dried, then buffed it off with more paper towels moistened with distilled water, and finished by buffing again with a dry paper towel. After 2 days of rain...and sap...and heat = BAKED

I ran the EN through the touch-free wash and as expected...STAINED! After dinner, as well as the sun going down, I decided to do a strong RW:

-Labocosmetica Preludio acidic

-Labocosmetica Idrosave RW

-ADS Amplify

-Griot's Garage 3 in 1 Ceramic sealant

I got to try out my ADS Crystal Clear buckets, lime green grit guard and ofcoarse...THE VILLAIN RW sponge

The Labocosmetica Preludio acidic worked great as a pre-treat, except on the gloss black section under the rear windows and wing, had to hand rub the Griot's Garage 3 in 1 Ceramic sealant into those sections...TWICE to remove the staining

I used ADS Amplify as my drying aid this evening, REALLY did the job and made my psint glossy and SMOOTH

I wiped down the engine bay and tires & wheels and called it a day, vac can wait till tomorrow

Those buckets look sweet. I need to stay off these forums. Every time I come here, I add more and more to my list of things to buy. I’m surprised my wife hasn’t found a way to block it on my phone.

Speaking of which, I was putting away some of a partial order I received. Is this C2 stuff any good?

I like C2v3 a lot. I've had good success with it and it's not nearly as streaky as other ceramic sealants.

Deep cleaning the grill is my next project

Hated cleaning my grill. Over lockdown I bought an Acorn kamado grill to try the charcoal thing. No more cleaning, just empty out the ash. If anyone would have told me it was going to be less work than a gas grill I would have called them a liar. The beauty of it is the heat burns everything off after your cook and you just empty the ash pan every 20 or so cooks. Sorry, back to detailing.

Really loving some Tec582. Does anything slicker exist???

They've got clear lids coming for them, so for now I've gotta becareful moving them around. I tried my other lids and they don't work, so now I wait. I'm using them strictly for RW's...yes, I've got a problem

I really like the look of them, but totally clear plastic worries me, sometimes it's really brittle and prone to cracking.

Ran a couple of loads of MFs through the washing machine, first load was the dirty stuff, ran them through the drier, on warm, as recommended by you guys. Second load was my new drying towels, they recommend washing them before first use, look at me following instructions.View attachment 138823

Those orange Carpro finger mitt applicators are brilliant. I really like them for applying leather conditioner.
