Megs hybrid ceramic wash & wax

I love the old version of this, the orange bottle you had to mix. I find the beading fantastic washing. I imagine this may be even a bit better.

Around here we have Ollie's. Sometimes they have half decent detailing products

That one made me laugh--you knew that one was going to be at Big Lots by the end of the season.

PS Am I dating myself? Is Big Lots still around?

Yea, and I got some great deals on a product that works great for me. Megs revamped it so it's a straight pour into a bucket now. Mixing wasn't a deal breaker for me.

I have Harbor Freight next door from Ollie's so I go there next to pick up Hyper Wash

Bought this to use to maintain my wheels. Found it to be a very effective.

Have you tried the Armor All Extreme Shield Ceramic Wash? This new Meguiar's soap looks to be the same thing (more or less) but the Armor All is far cheaper. Its like $11 a bottle at Walmart.

And if you put the concentrate in a spray bottle, undiluted, and spray down the wheels, it'll probably work even better. I do this with the Armor All and the beading is insane. Especially for the price and its available locally.

When experimenting with the old Megs ceramic wash, I poured the si02 from the jug directly into a small spray bottle. With a *wet* MF towel, I would spray into the towel and then wipe the wheels with it. The reaction with a wet surface is a cloudy, greasy film that is left behind but easily rinses off with pressure. Beading is pretty crazy. I don't do this method anymore as its a little more laborious than I care for. Using the Armor All Ceramic Wash undiluted in a spray bottle is FAR more easier and the results are just as good, so I use that now.

I also tried applying to dry surfaces like a detail spray and it worked fine. Left the finish slick and glowing.

Good stuff. Ordered 2 more today with free shipping.

I mentioned this stuff in another thread, but I figured there was already a thread on this, glad I found it. I really like this stuff so far. The slickness and looks it leaves are amazing for how little effort is required. Not sure if I'm imagining things but the trim looks much darker too. I drove a couple of hundred miles in the rain and the car looked good, even the back stayed pretty clean.

Do you guys really think this is the same stuff as the AA green stuff?

The discontinued orange bottle with the separate SiO₂ boost is not the same as the new green bottle. Some users online have reported that the old version performed better in terms of water beading. I haven’t tried the new green bottle, but I did use the orange one previously—and I’ll say, the original stuff beaded like crazy.

It wasn’t particularly user-friendly, and the overall application experience was pretty “meh,” which is likely why Meguiar’s reformulated the shampoo to integrate the SiO₂ and eliminate the second step. This change probably affected the SiO₂’s performance.

If you've used the orange bottle, you’ll remember that the SiO₂ boost didn’t mix with water at all. It basically floated at the top, like oil.
