What did you do today non-detailing related?

I completed the second stage of this carpark garden reno today, which is nice to have it done and off my brain.

Like last week, I worked bay to bay cutting the old Hebe’s down to a stub and loading the material into the tray of the Ranger. I then dug down and lifted the stub and root system out of the ground, doing my best to avoid severing the irrigation line. Then, I raked out all of the leaves and debris that had accumulated. Because this section is longer and therefore had more plants, I had to make two trips to the tip, thankfully not far from this job.



After the cleanup, I then replanted with the same variety of Nandina’s that were used in the previous section, all measured for uniform spacing. I then made sure each plant had a dripper, going from three to two plants per section meant I had to reconfigure the layout. After a test run, thankfully I didn’t spear the feed line this week, but I did shear off a couple of drippers, but they needed to be plugged anyway.

I hadn’t planned on refreshing gravel mulch in this section, mainly because there was plenty of it left and already the larger aggregate. But my OCD prompted me to go ahead and do it anyway, mainly so it would uniformly match last week’s effort. Once again, 14mm pink north.

Next up on this job, a HEAVY prune of the Magnolia 'Cleopatra' planted along the other side of the carpark. Magnolias have a reputation for being slow, and these certainly took time to establish. But once they have found their feet, this variety has proven extremely aggressive in bouncing back from a heavy prune. Again, I will time this job for a weekend to have full access of the carpark.

I went with my nephew and his wife on a test drive today. His 14 year old Passat wagon is dying, and he can't justify $5k in repairs on a maybe $5k vehicle. He's looking to go EV, and he's tested a few vehicles already, but BYD Shark 6 was my suggestion. This thing is ridiculous, sub 6 seconds to 100kmh, it is a hybrid, but it mostly ran in EV mode for the hour we drove it around, when the petrol motor kicked in it was still very quiet. It handles quite good, but it was running Continental highway rubber, so it may be compromised off-road, but he wouldn't be doing much of that anyway. Anyway, he's definitely short listed it. Thinking about my next plastidip color scheme.

Used AI for some renders

I’m thinking plastidip black textured body armor (like bed liner)

Lime wheels
Line hood vent
Lime paint splatter on top of the body
CF side skirts and rear spoiler

It will be polarizing and I’ll get some hate for it I’m sure.

I’ve plastidipped my c7 twice already. Lime first then orange second

Like the last pic but the splatters would be thinner and probably shorter. I’ll have to practice my paint splatter technique first

I like most forms of racing, probably road racing the most, roundy-round the least (though have a soft spot for flat track motorcycle racing) and everything else in between but there's something about dragsters. Nothing like hearing and feeling a top fuel motor - it's something to be experienced at least once.

Yeah i know, I was being cheeky or Taking the piss as we say in Australia, Top fuel I've only watched on TV and seeing someone go from 0-500km/h in 3-4 seconds is mind blowing 🤯
