Not to steal this thread, but I know you keep your cars in top shape. I plan to polish with 106ff with white low profile pad. Can I use a blue or red finishing pad to jewel the paint, or should I use 85RD? Gary, do you see much difference between the two as far as jeweling? Thanks.PO106FF and PO85RD.
That's what I thought, but after seeing Gary's post reccomending both, I thought I would ask. Maybe he's using the 85RD for light polishing. Hope he chimes in.Really? I was under the impression that 106FF/FA and 85RD finished so close that you need either one or the other, but not both.
Whoops, I meant to quote Mr. Sword in my response.
Yes I have been. Looks like 87MC has the least cut on a scale of l to 5. 87 is a 1. Guess it would be good for light marring or jeweling the paint?? Looks like most are using 106 followed by 85. Has anyone used 87MC?? I'm confused. LOLHave you been struggling with whether to buy 85RD or 87MC like I have Rsurfer?
Hi Al, have you tried 87MC for final polish? Seems to have the least amount of cut. I guess if you wanted to strip off your old wax or sealant and have paint in very good condtion this might be the least aggressive product to use. You know us Geeks are always trying out new stuff. To me..PO85RD brings the gloss up a little more on Reds..Blacks Yellows and darker colors than 106FF...85RD is slightly less abrasive...and it seems to just mirror out on darker colors more so than 106FF...
106FF will give a great finish by all means..but the 85RD goes a bit higher in the gloss and finished look....

From what I have read 106ff and a black (or blue) pad will jewel the paint.
