I'm a new member from upstate NY, near Rochester, where a white Thanksgiving has arrived. I have always been an auto freak, and hope to learn some valuable tips from the rest of you members.

I recently purchased a new 2009 Mazda 6 GT with all the bells and whistles except a navi system. I absolutely love it - it knocks the socks off its competition (Accord, Camry, Altima, etc.) by a big margin. It's my 1st Mazda, and I'm very pleased so far. It is the first car I have ever owned that wasn't a light or bright exterior color. It is a deep, rich dark royal blue called Kona Blue Mica. You have to see it in person to appreciate it - brochures, photos, and sample paint chips don't do it justice. IMO, it is the best blue color I have seen from any car maker in a long time.

On my past cars and my boat, I have been a big fan of Collinite products for the exterior upkeep of my vehicles. I figured that with all of the rest of you in this forum and all your various experiences, you could advise me on what you think the best wax / sealant to use on my new Mazda. Your experiences with dark colored cars and what you think would be the best products for me to use would be appreciated. I'm always open to new ideas - I'm not locked into Collinite, and if another product offers superior results on darker colors, I am interested.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Welcome!:welcome:
Collinite makes good products and alot of us use them.I personally use them for my winter prep.As for waxes that look good on dark colors everyone has there own opinion. Some cost more then a pretty penny though. Two of the big hitters for dark colors you might find are Wolfgangs Fuzion Estate wax that will set you back $175.00 or Pinnacles Souveran Paste Wax which is on special(By One Get One Free) untill tomorrow and it usually retails for $89.99.Others will chime in on what they like. The one i use currently is P21S 100% carnauba because i dont have deep pockets and i got it for a good price.
Some results with P21S 100% Carnauba:

Welcome to the Geek and the addiction!! I am also in the Rochester area.

I mostly use Collinite for my winter protection. I love its durability. But in the summer time, I am always using Souveran. For the color of your car, I would use either Souveran or SSII (Signature Series II). Use Souveran to make the color deep and wet. Use the SSII to bring out the metallic properties of your color. Hope that helped some.

Thanks for the opinions, especially 94LT1. It sounds like everyone likes Collinite's durability, which is great for the winter up here. As you suggested, I too have heard great things about P21S, and will probably try that first before going the big bucks route with Soureran, but it's good to know that the higher priced solutions do provide superior results. I recently tried the Wolfgang Interior Care Package for my leather interior and am very happy with the results. The great leather smell is an added bonus.

Any other suggestions will be welcomed - and thanks to those of you who have welcomed me.

Welcome to AG. I would suggest stickin wth Collinite during the winter months.

Welcome to the forum. Collinite makes a very good product of which I have used the 845 and been very pleased with the results. When the weather breaks in the northeast, and spring comes around you may want to look over the Menzerna lineup. You didn't mention if you have a buffer, orbital or rotary. They sell some great package deals here that offer several differant machines with pads, microfiber towels and polishes along with choices of sealants or carnubas. In fact, they are having some very good holiday sales right now. Good luck with your new Mazda 6, they're giving them great rateings in the magazines, and enjoy the forum for all the help it offers.
