Help me i have $1,011.71 in my shopping cart and i dont know what to do about it!!! my uncle is willing to give me 1 grand and i have 300 dollars as well but this feels like too much money and i still want other things!

i think i have autogeekium addicteditis

Well, if you want, you can give me some of that money. That will make it easier for you to decide.

I know your feeling though. I have right at $404 in my cart. There is so much more I can get, but this as far as i can get my wife to let me go, just waiting to get to the bank, which is hard when I work from 0630 - 1900.

Well what are you wanting to do/get. What's your plan? Are you starting a business, a hobbyist, or just starting out with the detailing world? Give us some info, and what do you have in the cart? You may have some duplicates in there that you could get by with one of first.

ah press enter ... its only money and you cannot take it with you.

only money! im 15 years old. thats like you spending $50,000

All the more reason for you to take nrengle's advice and provide a little more information on your goals. It's hard to provide directions if we don't know where you're trying to go. $1000.00 is serious money at any age. Just wait until you have to justify that kind of money to a spouse. "Honey, I need to spend $1000.00 to wash the car ...". Yeeesh! :D I'm just getting tooled up myself, and I'm choking on $300.00.

Your uncle is going to give you a $1000?? Costco has the Vizio 47 inch XVT LCD on sale for $950:D I know that's what I want.

But seriously, that's a lot of money. What are your intentions? What is in your cart?

you can easily eliminate some items from that order. Unless your detailing for a living or make serious paper, theres no reason for you to drop a G on detailing goods, especially with the current recession thats going on. Spend a couple hundred and put the rest away, you dont need 5 different waxes, 30 different polishing pads or 3 different finishing polishes. Ive leanred to limit my arsenal to what i really NEED. This also helps you ro rely on your skills more and truly know how to use your products. If you find your self staring at your shelf full of products and feeling good about it hten you need to go out and be a with a woman or something cause it aint normal. Better yet spend some of that loot at the massage parlor. $150 should get you a pretty good time. :righton:

If you are going to spend that much, here is what I'd get:
-Flex DA polisher - awesome machine, a must have, unless you are a rotary pro.
- Menzerna Nano Polishes - SIP and PO106FF. Or you could get Wolfgang 3.0 polishes, which are basically the same thing.
- Good quality MF, and lots of them, I' get them in bulk, spend $150-200 on them.
-Wolfgang 3.0 sealant, matter of fact I'd get it in a kit, with Wolfgang Fuzion
-Foam gun - a must, unless you have a pressure washer and a foam lance, which is even better. Also get DP Xtreme foam formula soap, Meguiar's Hyper Wash, or Optimum
-Pinnacle Souveran, again better off in a kit - more savings this way.

That should be enough to begin... Save the rest of money for later.

The main cars i will be doing are

2006 Graphite Gray BMW 325i
2008 Carbon Black BMW M3
2008 Metallic Black BMW X5
2001 Anthracite Gray BMW 540i

This is kind of a weekend and summer sort of thing to make money for college and maybe a car (ironic)

I'm trying to think long term by buying the flex instead of buying a pc and then later buying a flex (doesn't make sense to me)

The Leatherique kit is pretty important because the seats in the 325 are unfinished and are really hard and the drivers seat is dirty.

Thanks for all of your advice so far. You've all been a big help.

havent actually bought it yet though so if you guys think i should change some things feel free to criticize me:D

Speed-dude, is your uncle contributing $1,000 specifically for your detailing, or is this a thousand dollar gift which you can use any way you want?

Come on, everyone. Surely you can help this young man to reduce his package by one or two hundred dollars?

A couple of my suggestions:

1) Instead of spending $40 on the Wolfgang clay combo, go down to the Walmart and get the Mother's or Meguiar's clay bar set for $15.

2) Do you really need a hose blocker? (Answer: probably not)

3) Do you really need at this time the DP Glass Restorer ($35.00!)? Are you sure you can't get buy with a bottle of Invisible Glass? If you have water spots, try some vinegar.

4) Try to buy your microfiber towels when they are on sale. Lots of places sell towels and they go on sale a lot.

5) Instead of microfiber gloves, get more towels. Doesn't look to me that you have enough towels.

Good luck!

One thing you might want to change is to not start out on black BMW's...

yeah i wasnt planning on doing those anytime soon or even starting on the bmw's those will just be my main cars that will be detailed.

my uncle is giving me the 1000 for the detailing. and yes he is expecting something in return.

the mothers clay bar kit is a good idea and i will do that.

I'd agree with akimel.

Your big ticket items look good, get the FLEX, Menz kit and the pads for sure.

Also keep in mind that a $1000 is only a few details away. ;)

Well with the FLEX I will usually use 2 pads per product, per car. Pads are more of an issue on the PC/G110 as they become saturated and heavy as you go, and that makes them less effective. Since the FLEX is forced rotation this is not as much of an issue.

I'm not a big fan of orange cutting pads, but they do have their place. Your pad selection looks pretty good, you will likely use polishing pads the most, so I'd get more of those than cutting pads if it were me.

It's also a good idea to only use each pad for one product. You may also want to look at getting the Universal Pad Washer. ;)
