PC kit for Benz?

Sorry for so many topics, but at the moment I cant afford the Flex (I thought it was in reach). I figure as a newbie, it wouldnt be bad to start with the PC. I want to go with a mezerna kit, and my benz has light to moderate swirls/scratches. Which kit am I looking at? I saw someone on here reccomending this kit: Menzerna kit, menzerna polishing kit, menzerna intensive polish kit

^^Is this kit good for the hard paint/clear coat of a benz and is there anything more effective? Not looking to spend too much more money than that....$300 would be my max.

The kit you referenced will work fine for the Benz. You may want to add an orange pad and a nice wax to seal in the polish finish. You should be able to do that for under $300. If you can I would also spring for the Cobra Jr towel offer on BOGO.
 
So, Im looking at souveran for a nice wax correct?
 
Souveran Paste is one of the best waxes offered, but if cost is an issue consider Max Wax from DP. You should consider the PC/Ceramiclear Kit for a bit more bit on the Benz paint IMO.

Try brown bagging lunch to save the extra cash for the upgrade.

Either way you would be off to a nice start. Rome was not built in a day and neither was anyone’s detailing arsenal.
 
I recommend adding atleast 3 more grey pads & 3 blue pads especially if you are going to adding/removing sealant, polish & wax. The more pads the better... atleast in my case

I believe the ceramiclear coat was added on the 2003 and up Benz cars.
 
PC, 4" pads, Menzerna SIP, 106ff and final polish. Souveran is a nice wax. I prefer sealants, DG 105, 111 and FK1 1000p are the ones I like

So it looks like I may not be able to afford the Menzerna ceramic kit. Any other suggestions for quality kits?

Thanks rsurfer! What would you reccomend for a compound? I am going to need it for the parents car. Ill post pics later tonight, but they will be hard on the eyes. Swirls swirls EVERYWHERE. Possibly a deep swirl remover?

You will need Powergloss (POS34A) has the highest cut of 5.0 on the Menzerna scale. Try using a white pad first, remember least aggressive combo first. If that doesn't cut it, move up to an orange pad. This will leave some miro marring and you will need to finish down with SIP and or 106FA and then final buff with 85RD with a blue pad. You might also consider getting some 4" pads with a 3.5" backing plate. This will give you more cut in less time. To make this more confusing, Porter Cable has just come out with a new PC. A little more AMPS and power.
 
Thanks for the help. Should I look at possibly some wool pads? So I should start with the 34, then the 83, then the 85, then the 106, and then seal/wax?
 
It really depends on how bad the marring is. You might just need SIP and then work down to 106. Take the car in the sun and take a 2'x2' area and try different combo's, once you are happy with the results then you can continue with the rest of the car. Again, least aggressive combo first. BTW 85 is your last step polish.
