Advice On Small Generator For Car

I've been searching for small generators to power my Craftsman, 1.5 hp vacuum. So far I have had little to no success.

Can anyone steer me in the direction of a small generator that can be put in a decently small car, that at the same time has enough power to run a small vacuum. Something enough to even run the metro vac 500wat would be nice.

I forgot to mention, relatively cheap =)

The smallest generator I know, is the Subaru R1100. It is pretty darn compact for a generator, weighs about 55lbs. The downside is its a bit pricey for its compactness at about $800.

Good thing is, its a Subaru :D
 
The smallest generator I know of is a Honda. They are pricey too.
I did purchase a Alton Generator 3 years ago at The Andersons. It's not really small but the price was right. I think it will fit in a car trunk. Have you considered an Inverter?
 
You should just get on that will serve a dual purpose(cars and house). For a little more money you can get one to run some stuff if the power goes out at home. Otherwise a small one won't run your refridgerator, fans or lights.
 
Just get a power inverter, then you can just plug in without having to lug around a generator
 
Thanks for the advice guys, that Subaru R1100 is beautiful, but ya sure is pricey.

Looks like it'll just be much easier using an inverter i suppose. I just got a Power on board 1500watt inverter. Still have to install it, but looks like i'll be sticking with inverters until i get the cash to up to the big boy generators.
 
Check out Xantrex.com. You'll find they make a lot of portable generators and when you find a model that suits your needs, you can buy them at an on-line retailer like Ebay or Amazon.
 
I bought a Kipor that powers my rotary and PC's and shop vac. Fits inside a car or better on a cargo carrier out the back--keep the gasoline fumes outside. The best thing about the Kipor (similar to Honda but for less) is the noise..everyone is astonished when they hear the Kipor..very quiet.

Here's a pic of my Kipor, alongside a Nomad pressure washer, and another two Nomads in boxes on the back of my MINI.

How did the Nomad pressure washer work out for you? There is alot of talk about on another forum I won't mention. But it seems alot of people ordered these. Myself inmcluded. Just wanted to know what the reveiws negative or positive about it!
 
I love it, but of course I sell them too, so take that into consideration. The facts are simple. I can purchase 10 gallons of Sparkletts Distilled water for $10, and wash and rinse and use distilled water in my buckets..for absolutely spot free drying...I can wash and rinse, and no need to towel dry. I had a CR Spotless system and it never worked as well as the distilled water method. I have a YouTube video on the Nomad where I wash my MINI with it.

Naw, to do that, you would need both volume and pressure. With a rate of 90psi and about 10 minutes of water with a 3.5gallon tank...compare that to a typical pressure water that does 1.8 to 2gpm! It just wouldn't spray any appreciable foam.

But it IS the best totally self contained portable solution on the market.
