Hi...I'm a newbie here. My name is Tony & I'm a 39 y/o male, I'm the Graphics Manager for a major wet/dry vac manufacturer (coolest place ever for a detailing nut!) and I run my own automotive-related design biz on the side doing logos, custom paint schemes, T-shirt art, etc for car related companies. If I'm not detailing the cars or designing graphics, I'm probably doing yardwork which is another thing I like to be somewhat meticulous with.

I've been a car freak all my life, thanks to my dad (Finicky Steve, who is also new here). He taught me from the very beginning to care for your cars so I'd clean my bicycles up until I got my first car...and from there, it's all been downhill. I've owned a number of cars over the years, the majority were customized and were 'showed' as well. Back then though, I really just cleaned and wiped them down (with bath towels no less) but they were always 'clean'. I wasn't as informed about all of these proper detailing tips/tricks. Well, here I am, 39 years old and about three years ago I made the biggest mistake of my life...I bought a black car. Ever since that day, I've become a detail freak. I've since bought a PC7424, a plethora of detailing products, microfiber towels by the truckload and have been keeping that black paint swirl free. It's now an addicting habit...I've got to keep it spotless or I'm ashamed to drive it. Needless to say it was my first black car and it WILL be my last! Quite honestly it gets comments all the time on how clean and shiny it is, so I must be getting my techniques down but it's a friggin' chore to maintain.

Anyway, my latest ride is a 2006 Mercury Mariner. I got rid of my little customized ZX3 for this as the wife and I wanted something a bit more comfortable and luxurious I guess you could say. All I've done to this one so far is add the VCT 20 x 8.5" wheels on Toyo Proxes 4's, tinted it out added a decent stereo/sirius/subwoofers, and of course a K&N air filter.

As for the detailing, I love (and should be endorsed by) Poorboy's products. She's been SSR1'd, then I added Black Hole over that, and topped her with Natty's Blue paste wax. Tires are routinely dressed in Poorboy's Bold n Bright, windows get Stoners and the upholstery gets love from the RIDGID WD4070 wet/dry vac. After wiping her down on occasion with a California Duster she always gets squirted with some Poorboy's Quick Detailer

So here are the pics. These were actually taken last fall. I recently polished her for spring but have yet to get any current pics...hope you all enjoy...

And if money were no object and I had another car I could drive daily, I'd love to 'bag' her so she looked like this...

We've also got a 2001 Mustang GT which is actually the wife's car. We've added H&R Springs, Flowmaster exhaust, tinted glass, Cervini's Stalker hood, 17" replica Cobra wheels on Riken Raptor tires (which friggin' rock!), and MAC cold air intake and a few other goodies. She pretty much gets the same Poorboys treatment as the black one only this one is much easier to maintain...

Any comments are certainly welcome. I look forward to meeting, chatting and sharing with you all as I push forward in my quest for detailing knowledge.

Oh, and I mentioned the ZX3 I owned...it was a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 and she was my baby. I designed the graphics, custom painted, and pinstriped it myself with some help from my Dad of course. She had an H&R Cup Kit suspension, 17x7.5" Motegi MR12 wheels on Sumitomo HTRZII's, Kaminari lip, MAC air intake, tinted glass, stereo/sirius/subs, Fiber Images carbon fiber hood and much, much more. Here are a couple shots of it as well...

Welcome Mr. Steve. My last car was black(CTS) and they ARE a pain to keep clean. I live close to the beach and had to wipe the car off everyday because of the humidity and salt air(That and my obsession on having a clean car).

But nothing looks better then a clean, polished and waxed black car!
I will definitely get another black car and I am betting you will too. You seem to have already caught the bug.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. SSTG...whereabouts are you? I'm up in Florissant.

Hey hey welcome Tony,
long time, no talk!

What's up Trevor?? How're things going? You stayin' busy? I mailed you one of my new post cards, but I don't have your latest address...it came back to me.

Haven't seen ya 'round much.
