I have an '04 Tahoe with the factory aluminum wheels. There is a lot of seriously stubborn dirt/brakedust that just will not clean off.
I tried using Mequairs Hot Rims Wheel cleaner and than tried the DP Gel Wheel cleaner.
On both products I tried brushing with a fairly stiff brush to attempt to loossen up the dirt/brakedust but most of it won't come off.

Any other suggestions?

Is this on the the inside of the wheel, like in the barrel, or the face of the wheel. Chances are it could be baked into your wheel if it sat on your wheel for a long time. I've heard very good things about P21S wheel gel, though I haven't tried it yet.

here are pics as requested:

well, that's two votes for the Megs Wheel Brightner.
I don't have that product so it will have to wait until my next order of product and i'll order up some to try out.

Will you post some "after" pics when you try the Megs brightener?
Thanks

Yep, that looks like my Dad's rims on his 98' TL. I just put in an order for P21s Gel. I'll post some pics after cleaning the wheels.

I'm leery of any wheel cleaner that contains acid, I destroyed the rims on my old 89' Legend through stupidity.

You can see that it isn't baked into the cleare on those wheels, because one of the last pictures, has a scratch in the brake dust residue, that clearly shows the wheel behind it. Try the Megs Wheel brightener, with a brush for agitation.

Is this stuff or the P21 gel that much better than what he's already tried???
