Hey guys, I was just curious of what you all were charged for spare car parts from a scrap yard? Was it pricey or affordable? I would like to get a hood or 2 to practice detailing on. I know anything is affordable compared to going through your paint :o, but I dont want them to be too expensive. Thanks!

it really depends on what kind of car it is...I'll tell you this, if you are practicing with a PC/UDM there is no need for this...If you are practicing with rotary - yes, you might wanna consider that...

While looking for panels to pratice on consider your local body shop. Many have non-repairable hoods etc that will be scraped out . When you explain what you are going to use them for many shops will give them to you.

Exactly what I would recommend. Try to find a hood that was damaged in a wreck but still has a lot of good paint on it. They are only going to get scrap metal price for it, if that, which would be less then $10 so you should be able to pick something up for cheap.

my family is in the automotive/hot rod/fabrication/mechanic business and we also have a u-pull it type scrap yard. to be honest the mechanic business is what is keeping us going right now, haha.

to be honest, most body shops will more than happy for you to just haul away that stuff that they throw out, at least up here in the nw they are.
