Very poor results with Fuzion, bad pot?

I posted before about issues I had with my pot of fuzion. Followed the directions on the pot and applied to each panel, then Buffing clean. The first coat was in direct sunlight, but paing never rose above 110. I waited a few days, washed and then applied another coat in the garage. Looked and felt gorgeous. Before the initial coat, I had done a 2 stage polish with 106FF and PO85RD as the paint was not bad, but wanted it smooth for the summer months. Anyway, It rained a few days and the pollen fell. I washed it properly yesterday in the shade with a coat from my foamer, followed by the 2bm. After drying, the paint was not slick, did not bead, nor did it feel as though there was any protection at all. Can the fuzion simply wash away from rain in a week? Especially with 2 coats? Could I have a bad pot? I am very dissapointed with this product, considering the cost. Thoughts?

You said the P word. POLLEN!

It wasn't the rain that killed the beading, pollen is very abrasive and will reduce the slickness and the beading of any product that you use.

Also, which car wash did you use? After you washed, did you use the Wolfgang Instant Detail Spritz to restore the slickness? Soap residue can kill beading and slickness too. Using a detail spray remove the residue and allows your wax to bead again.

conditions like this scare me away from purchasing the boutique wax's. I understand that pollen is abrasive, but still. If I have to give it a wipe down with a ID, then what really is the point? I know for those few days it doesn't rain the nice wax's probably look killer, but if you are in my neck of the woods, SW Ohio, the weather is not constant at all. If I need to touch up after a wash with an ID, i'll just keep spending my money on my Megs 26.

Car was first foamed with DP Xtreme foam. Rinsed, then washed with Poorboy's World Super Slick & Suds. Used a WW to blot and finish by spritzing slightly with 425.

I have done this regime with many waxes from you.

Normally I use WG DGPS, but passed and just wanted Fuzion.

I usually top DGPS with SIG II paste (I know this is a "beauty wax" and durability is not the greatest) and that lasts for quite a bit longer.

Just wondering what has happened, and if anyone else has had this happen. I encounter pollen all the time in the early spring, that is why i foam, rinse, then was accordingly.
 
Sometimes the QD is so slick that the wax doesn't apply well. I have had it happen with chemical guys synthetic QD. If I apply the QD before a new wax application the wax doesn't stick that well. It just smears across it, not covering all areas. I had it happen last week with RBOE. I don't know if that is the isssue. Just wanted to state that because 425 is pretty slick. Could be a bonding issue, or not.

that is almost a plausible reason to this problem.
 
Good thought, but not possible as there was already one coat. Yes 425 was spritzed, but I am talking VERY sparingly. I will do 2 full sprays for the hood, that is it. I have done this now for several applications of SIG II and never had it wash off in less then a week.

I just washed with dawn, 2bm.
Dried with WW only, no QD.
Applied one coat of Fuzion, one panel at a time and wiped off.
Parked car in garage, second coat will be applied tomorrow morning.

Car looks amazing, dont get me wrong.
But if this happens again, I will be VERY upset.


Results will be posted soon as it is supposed to rain during the week.
I will leave the car outside as I did before.

Could it be that the Dawn is leaving a film on your paint? I would use a paint cleaner or an IPA wipe down before waxing.

Or even better, polished Wolfgang Paintwork Polish Enhancer. This product is awesome for prepping the surface and getting the best bond when you are applying Fuzion or Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0. Our chemist designed these products to work best when used together.
 
Put Fuzion on a clean base, like after Klasse AIO and see what happens. Sounds like you didn't have a good wax bond, as for example I only have a coat of Duragloss AW on and had pollen on my truck for 3 days now with some sprinkler water also. I sprayed down it beaded like normal.

I have been using my Brinkman Xenon lamp and one would not believe how little mf towels remove whatever the last step was (soap and polish). An IPA wipe down (50/50 for me) really makes the paint polish or soap free.
 
Please stop using Dawn in car care ...its not needed. Many commercial paint cleansers are available and you can even make your own IPA wipe.

Now back to your regularly scheduled post !
 
Well, I have a bottle of lime prime lite that I have only used once. Did a nice job applied by hand, noticed no difference in feel of paint. But that is just by a human hand, I did not get to deep in the inspection. I may pick up some of the Wolfgang Paintwork Polish Enhancer, and give it a go. Just dang, another $20 to my already large cost of the fuzion. For the price, that product should be tossed in!!! ;)

Dawn is back under the sink and will not be used again. I may strip all with prep-all. Then try to Lime Prime Lite. Apply the Fuzion twice and see what happens. If I get the same results, I will be offering samples to see if anyone else gets the same results.

Just upset with the results... Enjoy Mothers Day!

Dont rule out P21S Paint Cleanser.

Cleanse your paint and try again. Wax on Wax off.
 
Subscribed!...Wonder how this will turn out since I just got a tub of Fuzion as well...

I used P21S Paint Cleanser before applying Wolfgang 3.0 today. It works very well removing the stains, gunk and old Zaino off of the paint.
