SIP or Intensive polish

thanks rsurfer for the quick response .ive actaully have read and learned from alot of your posts.i use meguires pads becuase i can get them quick and locally.there 6.5 inch .which should i use?im thinking 8006 for sip and 9006 for the 85rd but i could be wrong.i was gonna

IMO anything bigger than 5.5" pads for the pc will not remove marring in a timely matter. You'll need 5.5" pads or 4" pads for heavier correction. Use a white LC 5.5" pad with SIP, if that won't remove all the swrils, then move up to an orange pad. Finish down with a white pad with sip and then a blue pad with 85rd. Good Luck:cheers:

SIP and IP have the same cut but SIP has more "powder" in it thus works faster and better on harder clears. VW uses a very hard clear, have a 06 GTI, and ceramic polishes are a must I think for VWs.

i Used TSR on my 2008 R32 i was able to remove most of the swirls out , but thr is some scratches that TSR couldn't level out , do u think SIP can take care of that???

I've used the 4" and 5.5" and for correction the 4" is the way to go. Any substantial pressure stalls the pc with 5.5" pads. They are better for jeweling purposes in my opinion.

Here's my take on SIP vs IP. I like IP more on a non ceramic clear coat. It seems to work longer and is smoother, just easier to use. Also I don't notice any difference in the end result when I use IP or SIP on non ceramics. Also IP is about half the price of SIP.

id be there all day doing a truck with a 4inch pad .but i take it thats just for certain areas on the paint?ill hav to give the smaller pads a shot

Just finished wet sanding a rock chip on my door. Got a 3.5" curve pad and it worked great. It was a narrow area so it was perfect. Dabed some touch up paint let it sit for a couple of days, wet sanded with 2000 and 3000. Shot 3 coats of clear let it sit for 2 days and wet sanded again with 2000 and 3000. Tried to polish with power gloss, but it wouldn't cut the clear. Was forced to wet sand and then polish with IP and finished down with 106. Sorry wife on a trip and has the camera.

It takes a while that's for sure. I got a flex to solve that problem and use the pc with 4" pads for the tighter spots. The flex cut the polish time because it corrects quicker and uses 6.5" pads.
