I was driving home through my neighborhood the other night. A man was hand washing his car in the driveway. I stopped to chat. No kidding, he was using Liquid Tide with Bleach Alternative and a floor scrubbing broom. He said it really gets the bugs and tar off. I imagine so!

Did he get out the belt sander for the tough spots?

You should've told him to use the grill brush on the bugs

LOL! You at least tried to lead him in a better direction, right?

It's amazing to see people at the car wash using "the brush" on their
new $50+ cars and SUV's(usually right after someone used it to
get the mud off of their 4x4).

they see a brush on those informercials and believe any and all brushes will do.

When i was a kid my mom wanted to sell her 1969 buick so she used furniture polish on the car.Used the spray like lemon pledge on it.First guy came by and bought it couldn't believe how great it looked and smelled. This is a true story i will never forget LOL

I made a few kindly "suggestions". I couldn't tell if the paint was orange or some weird red. I must say I've never seen a car that faded and with ZERO beading action when rinsed. I mean ZERO. The water just kind of sat there. I don't think it's repairable, certainly not by me. Shame...Pontiac made a cool coupe in 2004.

Harley Gut thats funny you mention that -I used to see people use pledge and a cotton diaper. I have to admit it shined the paint up atleast for a day. I was always a TR3 Resin Glaze user back in the day.

Back in the day as you mention i know guys who used to use coppertone on the dashboards to slow down the cracking or prevent cracking . When they ran out of coppertone any form of sun screen was used as long as it had a high sbf.

Remind me of when I first started going out with my gf, its now been 3 years geez were did the time go, but anyways I was like well lets wash your car sense there is nothing else to do. She was like ok, and i went out to my garage to get out the detailing cart and she was like what is all that stuff all i use is 401 and paper towels. I was pretty close to calling it quits but good thing i didnt and tried to show her the way but she says its too complicated. But now she does at least use proper car wash soap and decent mitt.

How about kerosene as a wash to stop the rust.

If you mean formula 409, I saw my neighbor doing that. But I have to believe it's just a bottle refilled with something else.
