Bissell portable auto extractor

For those of us not wanting to spend alot or don't need 1,000 horsepower,
was wondering if anyone has tried the bissell autocare proheat?

For $100, could be handy.

If they're decent, maybe AG will carry?

You get what you pay for. It might work for your own car on light soil.
Otherwise its like asking your Grandmother to wash your truck - The results are just not gonna be the same!
 
Best Buy will have it in June. The Hose is only like 30 inches long. A big Negative in my opinion.
 
I have been using one the last 2+ years and it has cleaned every car that's come through my doors. I may take longer than a high end extractor and will require some additional elbow grease...but it CAN do the job. I follow it up with a shop vac too.

For someone only doing a couple cars a month it's perfect.

Im Impressed I used to mess around with the former version "THE LITTLE GREEN CLEAN MACHINE" and it worked okay for spots but for doing SUV or SOCCER MOM VANS it was too much work. The shop vac in combination makes sense!

agreed, for the weekend warrior it will do. of course if you are doing numerous cars everyday than a real extractor would be more beneficial...
 
looks like a good cost effective dIY'er alternative
 
I don't agree even if i haven't used one RaskyR1 does plenty of details and runs a top notch place.if he recommends it i would be pretty confident it will do a great job.I use the old machine called elbow grease

Go to your local vaccum store and get a Bissel apholstery attachment for your shop vac, using a 1.5" reducer if you have a larger hose...I have 6.5HP behind my little attachment from my Rigid Shop Vac...works great, and cost me 5.50!!
 
Folex is my new favorite product. All I used here was a brush, Shopvac, and Folex. I am very happy with Folex, but I would love to have an extractor.
 
I used to have a Bissell Spot Bot, which is similar to this Bissell Auto Care machine, except it was geared more towards pet stains...although I loaned it to someone and they returned it to me broken.

The difference between these Bissell machines and even the most powerful wet/dry vac is that the Bissell has the special little head which is designed to suck up water and dirt from carpets. So after using your carpet cleaner and doing the scrubber, the Bissell sucks the loose dirt and carpet cleaner solution really really well.

Perhaps purchasing the Bissell attachment head that mrGolfRider posted would provide the same sucking power as one of the expensive Bissell machines because even though I have a RIDGID 6hp canister vac and a Craftsman 5hp portable shop vac, I still really miss my Bissell machine.

:iagree: Folex is great and I too would love a Extractor.darn things are expensive !! Maybe I could buy one and ask for some bail out money *******

It does do what I need it to, but I also use it with other tools like my shop vac, various brushes, and a few cleaners. I nice high end unit would save me time though.

If you are detailing full time I would suggest looking into a unit like the Mytee.

Instead of starting a new thread, I'm going to piggyback on this one. I just received my Auto Care ProHeat today. This weekend I'm going to give it a whirl.

I've read some articles about with extractors not to use any chems in the water tank. I see others here indicate to spray, scrub and just use to extract water. However, they say get the one with the heater.

So I'm assumming I use something like <insert cleaner here> to spray the fabric. Work it in as necessary and then use plain hot water in this machine and use the sprayer to go over the entire carpet? Then follow up with a shop vac if there is excessive moisture.

Am I missing something?

That should work. I add a small amount of Folex to the tank and pre-treat the stains with Meguiars APC+, but you could also just pre-treat with Folex or an APC and just use plain hot water in the tank. The Second method would definitely do a better job at removing the cleaners from the carpet. If they don't get rinsed clean some APC's will dry with white crystals on the carpet.

Just make sure that what ever cleaner you use is low foaming. If not, and you get a lot of foaming, it can wreck the unit. It's always good idea to keep an eye on the return tank to make sure it's not getting full of foam or over full.

Awesome, thanks Rasky. My wife just picked me up some Folex. I just received a gallon of the Meguiars APC so looks like I'm good to go. I don't really have anything with stains, just probably some hidden dirt on both our cars. I'll try the touch of Folex in the tank for now. I read a great post about the foam and I'll keep an eye on it.

I have the exact same machine. Got it at Target this past summer. It works great. I have 3 cars to take of. Always satisified with the results.

Did you get APC or APC+?

APC+ is orange/red in color and APC is green. The regular green APC will foam up.

I have a new auto pro green machine, heats its own water, never used it yet, folex is great. I bought 3 gas the other day.
