What Vac to get

I have decided that it is now time to suck it up.Feed back please
It is now time to buy a vacuume that is. One that I will use to detail my cars. I have been eyeing the Metro's and like the idea of a wall mounted unit but I also like the idea of having the option of removing it from the garage when needed. Thus I have been considering the Metro Vac and Blo Sr. anf the Metro vac and blo wall mounted portable. Other than the fact that the Sr. has a longer hose and wheels they both seem to have the same 4hp and amount of suction (95"). Are there any other differences to justify the difference in price? The Sr. is $229.00 and the wall mounted portabl is $189.00 plus a free turbo attachment. The Sr. seems to have a deeper discount though ($299 down to $229). If any of you have either of these vacuumes your feedback would be greatly appreciated as I am sure that you all will agree :D:autowash:

BTW what are your opinions on the Autobahn garage vac? It sure does look like a very well thought out design and I like that 40' hose and slim 4" profile. If it only doubled as a blower as well.

If you are going to have just one vacuum for auto detailing, it MUST be a wet or dry vac. It is essential for vacuuming out the excess water out of carpets and seats when you do interiors. If you already have a wet vac, then, since I in fact have one, the Autobahn Max Vac IS a great vacuum, as it works really well to pick things up, and is quieter than many vacuums I've used. It has a 5 or 6 year warranty, too. It is only a dry vac, though.

They wont send me a Metro for testing, cause they know it will never come back. I have not used the Autobahn yet but this one (one I linked earlier) from Metro has been used at a couple DetailFests with great results.
 
I have the Metro Vac-N-Blow Sr. and love it.
My only complaint is it went on sale about 2 months after I spent $300 for mine!

Seriously though - it is nice to get that turbo tool with the smaller one, I am actually considering buying one outright (had one with another vac at one time, very useful).

The nicest thing about the larger version is you don't have to empty the bag often. I have heard with the small one it is an every detail event. I usually empty my Sr. after 5 or so details, and it isn't even close to full...still just a little pile down in the bottom.

The blower on it is very strong - not like the one Scott posted, but for a dual purpose, it is quite acceptable.

Like Blackthornone said though - if you only have one, make it a good wet/dry. A popular brand sold in local hardware stores has a wall mount unit version of those.

On another note - my wife pulled my Vac-N-Blo in the house the other day to do some cleaning with it (we have hardwood floors, so no vacuum in the house) and it was very manageable for her (and she's a little thing). So, it is a great Vac - especially at the price AG is selling it.

I have a good ol' Craftsman 6gal shop vac, when I get done cleaning the interior, I usually blow the leaves out of the flower beds when I put it away for the wifey......

It's kinda cumbersome but it works great for me.....My cars are outside and I have no garage, so I coil the hose inside of the vac and store it in my back room.....
 
Have you checked out the Shop-Vac Bulldog wall mount unit? I have been looking for the right vac myself, even though I have a 1.5 gal. Craftsman that has plenty of "suck". (I suppose if I added a little longer hose I would solve my problem. BUT, it's not on the wall.) While I can't answer your question, per se, I have read nothing but praise for the Metro units............although, I would have to agree that a garage vac seems like it ought to be wet/dry for more than one purpose. That's why I mention the wall mount Shop-Vac. Seems to be well liked in reviews I have seen

I'd love a Metro, in fact, I'd REALLY LOVE a Master Blaster for car drying. But, I digress.
