What are you listening to...?

Yeah I've got that one along with "West Coast Seatle Boy" and the latest one "Hendrix in the West". The West Coast one goes from his earliest beginnings to right before he passed, pretty good. The purple box set is awesome, "Johnny B Good" and "Day Tripper"....I highly suggest anyone out there....find these and listen up!

Thanks for the Iommi find too, saw Black Sabbath back on Valentine's Day 1999 at the Palace of Auburn Hills and was in heaven, love Sabbath...BIG TIME! They played "Into the void" and I lost my mind!

I need to get Band of Gypsys .
I thought I had that one .

There's 2 of those, the original and the 2nd issue which is a double cd that covers both shows, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day 1969/1970. The original release is my favorite cd everand would be the one cd I would want on a deserted island! All the songs are great but "Machine Gun" and "Izabella" inparticular really shine!

how is " Valleys of the neptune " ?

Its another one of those cd's where you get tracks you've heard before but in a different arrangement and then some tunes that have never appeared on another cd before.

A lot of these cd's are for "real" fans of Hendrix. The last boxset, "Hendrix. In the West", has a cool interview from a Boston Garden show in 1968, very candid and a must listen for a true Hendrix fan!

For those of you out there whom only have or heard the first 3 "actual" releases, I encourage you to pick up "First Rays of the New Rising Sun", a collection of songs Hendrix was working on for his upcoming album before he died. He was also looking to work with Miles Davis at the time of his death, imagine what that would"ve sounded like, especially sinceMiles had just released "Bitches Brew" about year before Hendrix's death, not to mention "Live Evil" (not to be confused with Black Sabbath's Live Evil)

If you can find the version target sold with the two bonus tracks get that. "Slow version" is one of the two, it's instrumental but it's a really good one.

great song, ive really been into "hear my train a comin" the last few days. "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)" is probably my favorite Hendrix song.

Hey Arkus, wait till you hear "Red House" on Hendrix iin the West!!! For me, "Machine Gun" on the original Band of Gypsys cd is a religious experience for me. That one note he holds for what seems like forever is unbelievable!!

Machine Gun is a great song. I also love the instrumental Bold As Love on the purple box set.

I need to re-listen to that one. So we've got some Hendrix fans here, big ones, so what do you guys think about SRV? Have you ever seen the video of his performance "Live from the El Macombo"? If not, "3rd stone from the Sun"......chilling! If you look closely you can see Hendrix's spirit enter Stevie's body, atleast I do anyways. SRV is 2nd to Hendrix for me, then Sanatana and Jeff Beck!

I'd toss in Kenny Wayne Shepherd with those too, still young but very talented.
Alpine Valley took SRV away too early!!!
