What are you listening to...?

You sound like me, except for the cellphone part. I love Miles, what a change from 1959's "Kinda Blue" to 1969's "Bitches Brew", both huge icons in the jazz world and something everyone who's into music should own, whatever form you listen to it in.

Agreed on Bitches Brew, Pharaoh's Dance is an awesome piece of music. I also own In A Silent Way & A Tribute To Jack Johnson. People suggested I get Kind of Blue, which I did, I'm not impressed by that one. The other 3, oh yeah.

What don t you like about "Kinda Blue"? Is it because it's not fusion?

The 3 I like, note that they all have a similar sound. From what I remember, Kind of Blue sounds a bit more big bandish, not my style. Of course, it's been 20 years since I listened to it, perhaps I'll give it another shot. I'll let you know.

Glad to hear this

If your in the car and have a little bit of a drive in front of you put this on and let it play out, you'll see what I mean. The sound and the arrangements are just "right". I have a trip to the Tail of the Dragon coming up and I will be listening to it at some point heading down there.

IMO if someone was to do one of this time capsules and you needed a piece of music from the 20th century, one piece of music of any kind and it wasn't to be opened for 200 years it would stand up

I'm listening to James Marshall Hendrix all day today as it's the 45th anniversary of his passing. I was only 7 monthes old when he died so I missed out but have more than made up for it!

Right now Spotify is playing "Them Changes" from Band of Gypsy's", awesome performance from New Years Eve 1969/70.

"Machine Gun" from the Isle of Wight, Aug of 1970, about 3 weeks before he died. This is a stunning performance🎸

I can't post it right now because I'm on my phone but go to YouTube and put in Jimi Hendrix Johnny B Goode. The solo in the middle and the use of feedback, awesome! Jimi made the best faces too!

You post Machine Gun, & I think of Saxon's Machine Gun. Gave that a listen this morning & have been jammin' to old school Saxon most of the day. Wheels of Steel, Denim & Leather, Strong Arm of the Law & Power & the Glory. Thanks for the suggestion, Klasse Act, I enjoyed it.

Love the song "Denim and Leather" but did you listen to the Band of Gypsy's "Machine Gun"? The version from the original release with just the 5 songs is the single greatest release...ever! The solo at the 3 or 4 minute mark where he holds the note seals the deal for me

Wow. I used to wear out that vinyl. I read that he really loved playing with that team, and it really shows on that song. I need to YouTube it now!

And...to stay true to the thread ... that will be the song that I'm listening to.
