If I sound like I'm out of breath it's because... well I was... I'm not known for taking breaks when I buff-out cars, just long enough to down some liquids and fire the buffer up again...

:)

This looks like a 57 Chevy two-ten, and not a Bel Air. The Two Ten lacks the aluminum inserts on the fin trim and the top of fin trim is about a foot long, while the Bel Air trim is about 3 or 4 feet long, which goes from the fin tip to about an inch away from the rear window. Those look like fiberglass bumpers. Are the hood and fenders fiberglass too? Tropical Turquoise is a very pretty color when it's all polished up. I'll be using my Flex on my 57 Bel Air soon. :) Thanks a lot for the review, Mike!

Thanks for the info, Frank never said and I'm not a Tri-Five expert, the words 'Belair" sound so much better than 210

Those bumpers are steel and painted, the body is all steel and actually very straight. It has a very nice custom aluminum dash and the interior is finished, just not installed yet.

I've only buffed out 2-3 of these and at least 1 of the other ones was a Belair as it looked like you described. Also did a Nomad once but forget the year and it was before digital cameras so I don't think I have pictures of it. It had the ribs up and down on the tailgate and across the top if that's any kind of indicator.

Big cars but pretty easy to work on.

Although it would make touch up less than nice, He could paint the bumpers with chrome paint, metal deposition paint that looks almost like chrome. I think it would look a lot better that way. Touch up is tough, though, because its black, then clear, then aluminum powder, then clear.

My car is single stage beige Deltron urethane paint. I have a lot of buffer swirls from the body shop since the car was painted, and so I will need to be buffing it out. I sanded a spot with 2000 grit paper, but it was too difficult to remove those scratches by hand. Sure, I got some of it out, but I will need at least a buffer to remove them. I'm even thinking about following up with 2500 and 3000 to save time.

All Nomads are Bel Airs, by the way.

mike, how are you liking the Flex 3401 - and what are your impressions of it? looking forwrd to the rest of the write-up... :)

Actually, they look cool. They are silver metallic flake with clear over them and the more I worked on the car the more I liked them. Nothing wrong with chrome but these looked pretty cool.

Thanks for the insight, I'm mostly a Pre-1976 Blaze/Jimmy guy as well as the past owner of 4 - 1959 Cadillacs and 2 1960 Cadillacs. I figure if you're going to have a car with fins then might as well be some of the biggest fins ever to come out of Detroit. Of course the 57 Chevy's have nice fins too...

This is my daily driver,
