I am new to the forum and detailing and had a few questions about products and their usage. Rocket was kind enough to help me out with my questions and even offered to personally show me how to properly use the products! I just wanted to put up an appreciation post for Rocket's help along with all of the other members here who offer assistance. Rocket and members like Rocket are really what make these forums great!
Thanks again Rocket!
Thanks for the kind words, always looking to help when I can.
Thanks CEE DOG.
Haha....I agree too. Some people just don't understand how helpful and honest he is. We need more of him on this forum.
Thanks Josh, honesty is the best policy.:xyxthumbs:
Agreed... Dana is a good guy.
The thing is, many peeps want shortcuts. To get top notch results shortcuts can't be taken and that is the thinking Dana adheres to and prescribes.
Thanks Jason, agreed way to many people taking short cuts and then giving out short cut advice.
yes a big thumbs up for rocket
Thanks mbkite.
:iagree:He's old school and does it the right way every time. People complain about him for no reason. Some people on here don't want a honest response to their technique. So don't ask unless you want it. It's not being a bully, it's a honest opinion.
Thanks Louie, I like how speaking the truth, being honest or factual is being a bully. Plus I still haven't figured out how you can be bullied over the computer.:dblthumb2:
:iagree

ana is straight and to the point. He will not honey coat your problem, but will let you know what you did wrong or missed. He's really a nice guy, but it's hard to express that on paper.
Thanks Dad, you keep me in check.

In this forum as in life in general one must consider the source when being given information. I am sure all suggestions and recommendations being offered by members of the forum are well intentioned but there are times when un-substantive comments or misinformation is innocently being offered by a misinformed new member. So please consider the source when evaluating information being given to you.
With that said this thread is not intended to talk about any negatives.
On the contrary it is intended to highlight the positives that this forum has to offer. In positives I specifically mean those very special members that I would like to refer to as GUIDING LIGHTS. They are the members that go out of their way to reply to questions with answers that have substance. They are the members that follow up with PM's They share their experience not for monetary gain but simply for the betterment of the art of detailing. In my opinion these GUIDING LIGHTS need to be recognized as a vital source of illumination for every member on the forum nube or not.
My guiding light was Asphalt Rocket. Some people find their way to the promised land on their own. Some need to be led, while others need to be pushed in the right direction and than there was me. I needed a swift kick in the seat of my pants in order to get my journey to the promised land of detailing bliss underway and Asphalt Rocket was there to give me the kick start that I needed.
It all started with a simple posting of a question about using glaze to hide swirls on my new 2009 Porsche. Well I guess the thought of a person attempting to hide swirls with glaze on a new 2009 Porsche was all of the sacrilege the rocket was able to endure. He replied to my question by informing me that if I wanted to do a lazy mans half assed job that glaze would be the way to go. He than instructed me on the proper method of applying glaze. When I informed him that my reason for using a glaze was not born out of laziness but rather out of a fear to use my Flex for the first time on my Porsche Asphalt Rocket became my guiding light. Like a father teaching a son to ride a two wheeler for the first time Asphalt Rocket was by my side throughout the whole process. Through numerous detailed PM's the training wheels where now gone and there I was machine polishing a $150,000 Porsche for the first time. The car came out great and the whole process was a lot of fun. Thanks Dana aka Asphalt Rocket.
If you have found enlightenment from a reply to a question or concern that you have posted on the forum please share the joy and show your GUIDING LIGHT a little appreciation and recognition at the same time by posting your experience in this thread.
Thanks UncleStu. I am glad all my advice helped you get through your time time with your wife's car. I enjoy helping anyone on the forums as long as they truely want to be helped. It is just hard sometimes when people come in after your post with very poor advice and confuse the person looking for correct help.
I would also like to say thanks to AsphaltRocket. His post have help me out a lot getting started! And if i PM him he always has time to help me out. He is to the point and tells you the truth. after i am done reading one of his post or pm him i do not have to second guess my self when it comes time to do some work on my car!!
thanks again
Thanks autodrama. I will try and answer my pm's as quick as I can, that also goes for my emails, im's and texts.:dblthumb2:
I just joined this forum last week and just placed my first order of detailing products. Dana took his time to help me when he didn't have to. He gave me good info on many products and even helped me pick out almost all of my products. I don't know about u guys, but when I come up of off almost $300 I have lots of questions. He started off answering all of my questions in my thread and then PM'd me on his own to make sure I understood the use of all of the stuff I ordered. He even talked me out of some bad purchases and save me money! After guiding my supply purchase he's also helping me with my polisher purchase and all of the questions I have about it. He deserves all of the props he's getting in this thread, he's a good guy :xyxthumbs:
Thanks Topless Stang, much appreciated. I didn't realaize I saved you money so I guess that was a bonus-lol. Let me know how it is going with all your new supplies.
LOL!
Dana is definitely a great guy and a valuable asset to the forum. Hope you make it out to Detail Fest this year Dana!
