Best Finishing Polish

I've played around with PO106FA and PO85RD with some blue finishing pads and the Makita. Honestly, side by side, applied in the same manner, I could not tell the difference between the two in terms of gloss on my solid black Nissan Maxima with medium-hardness paint. Both looked great. Maybe PO85RD will have an edge on some very very soft paint found on the black Lexus, Mazdam or Honda cars.

Autogeek has a dual 32oz SIP and PO106FA package for pretty good deal. Used with the autopia coupon code will give you an additional 10% off. If you have not already, get the swirl finding gun. Even the smallest nicks and marring that you cannot see under the blinding sun will be made visible by the swirl finding gun. In order to get the best out of the ultra-fine polishes, a swirl finding gun is essential.

Thanks for the information on your experience between the two! I am using the free shipping code which is the best deal right now so thats all good to go. I have a halogen light, as well as a few LED lights that I tied together to make a DIY swirl/marring light which works great. My car has pretty soft black paint so I think that 85rd is the way to go still, but man I'm tempted for the PO106FA just for its flexibility alone.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up the 106fa either. It has a little more cut to remove those minor defects. As far as 106fa and 85rd being the same in gloss like posted above is not true. When 85rd is worked correctly you will see the difference whether the paint is soft or hard. Now enough with all this talk about buying the stuff and just buy it and let us know how the car comes out.:props:

Ditto on the 106, added that too. One quick question before I order; I was thinking about getting Lime Prime Lite since I need a quick glaze/paint cleanser. Would I be better off sticking with the Poorboy's Blackhole Glaze I have? Do you have any recommendations on any products?

I am not a glaze guy so I couldn't anwser your question. If you polish the finish correctly no glaze will be needed. As far as the Lime prime, I believe either Loudog or Rsurser uses it. I use the Pinnacle Paint cleaner or Swissvax Cleaner Fluid after I wash a car that does not need any paint correction just so I know the surface is clean or an IPA wipedown, it is just how I feel that day.

Cool, I know that it is all in the correction and prep work that will determine the appearance of the paint. I figured I should ask for your advice in that regard, because I always order a set of products from AG only to realize that I forgot to add something and was up on the fence about the glaze. I'm not a fan of hiding defects but if it adds something extra then thats fine with me.

Thanks for hanging in there with my questions, I can't wait for the 85rd to arrive so I can get cracking!

I use Lime prime on my car and love it. Be careful with the micro-abrasives. I tried it on my wifes toyota matrix. It marred the crap out of it. I think Chad(rasky) used it on his honda and marred that also. Dodo even say to becareful on soft japanese paint. Infiniti's are the only ones that don't have issues. Well nissan too, since nissan is infiniti. I used it on other non-japanese cars with succes. It leaves the paint nice and smooth/glossy.

I'll go back to make sure it was the Lime prime, and not something stuck in the pad.

Thanks for insight Louie, I didn't wind up getting LP just for the sake that I reminded myself the fact that I have a crap load of glazes at home that I have barely even touched haha. I have a problem with not using up what I have before buying more stuff which makes the problem worse.

Anyways, for some closure I ordered:

-85RD
-106FA
-XMT 360 spray wax
-Leatherique rejuvenating oil
-Optimum Opti-bond tire gel (can't wait to see how this does on trim)

Will be posting a bunch of reviews and probably a show-n-shine.

Opti-bond is a great tire gel, no sling on the vette or any of my other cars. Never tried it on trim, I like you polish trim and stay away from any type of dressing as much as possible.

I normally do that on smooth trim, and it works great. I'm mainly interested in seeing how it does on the side skirts of my Saab since those are the hardest to keep dressed and are the only real pieces of plastic that I need to dress. We'll see how it works, but yes I saw great reviews on it and love the semi-gloss look.

I always use M205 on a W9207 Soft Buff 2.0 finishing pad and get amazing results, I have no experience with 85RD.

Gonna have to try out the Opti bond on tires. I am still workign through a gallon of hyper dressing though so it will be a while. I found I like PB's NL on interior better so the only thing I have to burn this stuff up on is tires...

As far as finishing goes I have'nt used anything better than Poorboys new version of SSR1. It really works for a long period of time and produces a great level of gloss. I would like to try this 85rd though just to satify a few curiosities.

I also like Menzerna PO85RD the best for finishing off and jeweling paint. It dosen't matter if I'm using a rotary, Flex or PC. It always finishes off great. Last week I used it with a Flex and 6" Kompressor Lite Cutting & Jeweling pads on this:

Very nice Gary. Got to try the Kompressure pads out. Asphalt Rocket likes them and now you. Can't go wrong if both of you are recommending them.:dblthumb2:

I was going to buy some gold Kompressor pads but I did a bit of research and saw quite a few negative reviews. I think alot of people mentioned it didn't offer any additional advantages over a standard pad of similar foam composition.

Also, I ordered Lusso Oro and paint revitalizing creme... Can't wait to try it out, looks like a fantastic beauty wax!

When using a finishing polish, to bring out the gloss, what kind of pressure should I use with a PC. As much as cutting or correction? What about work time?
