Best Finishing Polish

Like AR said, it's crucial to do an IPA wipe down after polishing. This will give you the true finish of your paint. BTW IMO the best last step polish is Utrafina with a blue Ultrafina pad using a rotary at 1800 RPM. I've tried it with a Griot DA at speed 6 and though it gave it a good finish, the finish came out better with a rotary.

I've heard alot of things about UF, but never was going to get a rotary until now so I wrote it off because of that. Maybe I will give it a try some day.

Ah... the theads I read were about IPA's not revealing the unfixed issues with the paitn because the solvents (not fillers) actually penetrated the paint and caused micro swelling that resolved 2 -3 days later so the unfixed issues did not appear until 2 -3 days out. I was just asking if there is any validity in the comments. I am already on board with IPA wipe downs between steps. I just have not gotten to do much paint correction the past couple months :(

To answer your questions, yes, there is 100% validity to those comments.

this has probably been said many times, but i like menzerna 85rd for finishing best, in terms of results and ease of use. Ive used others and UF is great too, but i always go back to the menz.

I agree and it's one sale now for 25% off and an additional 15% off with the AG Black Friday / Cyber Monday Sale.

All of our cars a daily drivers. I'm ordering the Meg 105/205 combo for paint correction. It seems like majority of people agree that 85RD will finish and jewel better for a higher gloss factor than the 205 on an LC white.

My question is:
Assuming I don't need too much gloss (especially on brand new DD vehicles), then could i use 205 w/LC white pad for paint correction followed by 205 w/LC gray or blue pads as a final polish?

I've been contemplating on getting the 85RD for our new cars (direct from factory so min swirls I assume) just to polish but have read it doesn't have enough cut to fix any swirls, even with a LC white pad, thus reverting back to 205.

Thanks.

Yes, 205 with a white pad will remove mild swirls, and may even finish down good enough to go straight to your LSP - depending on the paint. Give it a shot, assess the paintwork, and move on accordingly. :)

Regarding the IPA wipe down, do you wipe after every step? For example, I have the WG concours kit with my flex 3401. Do you use TSR, then wipe down with IPA, then use Finishing glaze, then do another wipe down, then apply DGPS?

Correct, after each step.
