QUESTION about MF. I have read of different teqniques when washing. I might need to throw mine away. I did wash them all together (nothing else in the washer). I put it on Cold/Cold and threw on detergent (No Fabric softener) on top of the towels before they were soaked. I then dried them in the dryer on high heat. After reading this was a no no I think. Should I toss them? or rewash? if so what do you recommend to wash with and what process?

Since you're already dropping some coin, here is a cost effective way to wash your MF's. Use Tide or a regular detergent, and add in 1/2 to 1 cup of vinegar and wash in medium wash/rinse in cold. In the rinse cycle, add another cup of distilled white vinegar, it really gets the MF's clean. Dry the MF's in as low as heat as possible, if you've got to take them out a little damp, do so, they'll last longer. If you really get OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), you can split up your MF's, by what you used them on/with/or for. For example, I seperately wash the grungy MF's I've used on wheels, etc., keeping them away from MF's I use for drying, or applying QD's, etc.

If you decide to replace your MF's, there are several good sources for MF's, I had good experiences with Cobra products, and use some cheaper ones I found at Costco, for wheels, door jambs, etc.

You actually brought up a good point. You said that I may buff the car once or twice a year.

My question is....If I enjoy going to car shows and showing off the car every couple of weeks should I buff it before each show? My car is a daily driver and we live on the outskirts of the City and bugs can be a problem...as well as dirt and grime.

I want to have the car looking great for the car shows......is it not recommended to take the DA to the car twice a month? If not...what do you recommend?

buff it out every few weeks before a show? sure, and in two years when you have buffed thru the paint let us know how you enjoy the cost of that new paint job.... :laughing:

no, seriously, you aren't going to have to buff it out every few weeks if you use some basic care on regular cleaning maintenance.
You are going to first do a COMPLETE detailing on the car and paint surface including a proper wash, clay, compound and polish, and LSP and make the car look good. This will remove surface contamination level and correct your paint surface, remove the swirls and other non-major defects.
Afterwards all you are going to have to do is carefully maintain the paint in that condition including keeping the car regularly washed down or at least carefully wiped down with the QD spray wipedown.
By keeping the car clean in a careful and proper manner even with the daily driver car you should be able to keep swirls, etc out.
A daily driver will require more work and most likely an extra buffing or two a year to keep looking it's best compared to something like a more dedicated showcar like my vette for example that maybe sees 500 miles a year only in the summer on nice days but even so I don't see where you should need to have to buff more than 3-4 times a year MAX, and still most likely only probably twice a year once you learn how to do regular careful daily/weekly cleanings

I would go wit hthe griot garage da. It is power full enough to power a 6'' pad. With that said I would get the new LC hydro pads they work great. As for compound and polished. WG TSR /FG or Pinnacle Advance Swirl Remover and Advance Polish. Since you are a beginner this would be your best bet. For Sealant WGPS or FSUPP. For wax PSII, Pinnacle Sourvan Paste or Wolfganf Fuzion.

There is such a HUGE difference between these professional products and the OTC stuff, I know it really stunned me the first time I used it, I immediately took all my OTC stuff to the neighbor and placed another order for more top of the line products from my friends at AutoGeek!:buffing:

Not totally true you can use Meg Ulitmate Compoound and Swirl X and get simmilar results to M105/M205

Nice haul of stuff you are getting. I would suggest getting the Megs stuff also, since you paint is on the harder side its better to have them then not when going to polish. Also the Wolfgang sealant will look great on the orange.
