Shamrocks Don't Rock

So many people are coming out of the woodwork with Shamrock problems! The last time I mentioned mine shed profusely even though they have been through at least 20 proper washes by themselves I was told it was in my washing/care process. I can't even use them for anything more than drying and maybe a light dusting if I wipe them across the paint work as lightly as possible and follow up with QD and another towel to get the leftovers. They also shed into the other microfibers I washed them with one time and that effectively drew the line for me.

I am sure that AG is going to do the right thing for their customers. AG has the best customer satisfaction and Meghan is all about customer satisfaction. Obviously this is not an issue of customer mis-use of a product.

Has anyone contacted Meghan about the shedding problem? AG will probably exchange them for a different towel. If you don't contact them... they will not know that there is a problem. It sounds like they got a bad batch.

My last order i ordered the shamrocks and the blue waffle weaves....:bash: I usually go chemical guys for MFs.....should have stuck to the plan

I started this thread just to get some advise and to see if I was the only person having this problem. I know AG and Meghan are the greatest and I will most certainly be contacting her in the A.M.

Don't beat yourself up buddy. It was probably only a bad batch in any event here at AG they take care of their customers like family. THEY DO THE RIGHT THING ALL OF THE TIME

I was thinking about grabbing some of those shamrocks with my next order. I have used the Jr deluxe 600's(purple) and supremes(Gray). the 600's are about the softest I have ever had and they did not shed on me at all. I think I will stick with them now.

 NO!! Surely not!! Those were what I got as shamrock replacements! Maybe I'll take CTS-Veo's idea and try to encase them in some indigos.
So what are good QD MFs and where do you get them?
The purple 600s and the Gold Plush's are both really fluffy, and work good for QDing. I would definately suggest washing them first though.

I got a Miracle towel about a week ago. I haven't tried it yet, but it also felt really soft. It was kind of heavy or dense, but soft at the same time. It's kind of hard to describe, but there's something unique feeling about the Miracle towel.

Dammit... I just took a look at my very first AG Order List... and I too ordered Shamrocks.

I remember wiping down my Black Truck... and thinking maybe these Towels needed to be washed first. There is Lint everywhere on mt Truck. I used an Airgun to blow all the Lint off.

Wow very sorry to hear this. I know the Cobra MF's are expensive & your right in your buying decision process with regards to you get what you pay for. I personally went with the Girot's Garage line & LOVE them. No dusting or lint trails from what I've experienced so far. The "Costco / Wal-Mart" line, I use for low valance's, wheel wells, door/trunk/hood jambs, engine degreasing, (never on the high parts of the paint) etc. & they just get disposed of after they've served there purpose.
Like "UncleStu", I'm sure Meghan & the AG folk's will make good & address this problem as they have in the past. There CUSTOMER SERVICE is # 1.:xyxthumbs:

When I placed a very large order ($1500.00) this summer among the things that I ordered were the Shamrock m/f towels. I have not had the pleasure of using them until recently and found them to shed. No problem, I thought , they just need to be washed to knock out any loose fibers. Well after three or four washings with the microfiber rejuvenating detergent I find that they are still shedding & dusting. I am using FK425 as a QD specifically for its dust repelling quality and I have been very satisfied with it. When ever I have the dis-pleasure using these shamrock m/f towels to QD my beautiful black Porsche it looks as if it has been visited by a leprechaun. These shamrocks leave a trail of green dust all over the car.
Is there anyone else having similar problems with their shamrocks or am I the only one not feeling the LUCK OF THE IRISH

+1 - :iagree:

:iagree::dblthumb2: I have those 600's and they are wonderful. I was hoping that the shamrocks would have even been better as they were heavier and more plush:cry:

Hi Dalton, are you also having this issue with shedding and if you are what is it then that you love about these towels?
I purchased these towels specifically for QD'ING and now I am finding out that I have to QD after the QD in order to clean up the mess that was caused by the towel that was used to do the QD in the first place.
So if you are having this problem PLEASE tell me and anyone else who might be considering these towels what it is that you love about them. Because if I knew that they would be making such a mess on my cars I never would have bought them as my go to QD towels.
Stu - Just saw your post in reply to me.
My batch is some of the newer ones with the black borders, and I haven't had any shedding (at least to speak of) as of yet. This is after using Lucas Slick Mist on my wife's black car and on my white truck.

I have had absolutely no shedding from my Supreme 530's, and they are my favorite towel in my arsenal right now (I only have about 8 or 9 different kinds of MF, still building in that area.)

I'm glad to hear that. I just got some of those, but haven't tried them yet; I liked the fact they are different on each side.
I will also add that my shamrocks didn't shed as much if I used them slowly. Mike Phillips had a post about doing a slow final wipedown. When I QDed with that method in mind, there didn't seem to be as much lint.

I have some of the newest ones I purchased on BOGO about two weeks ago. Washed them twice and they are doing the same thing. little green hair all over my dark blue truck. Cant see them as much on my wife's green Accord ! hmmm.... Camoflaged maybe !!

I bought a Samrock 2 weeks ago, I used it once, washed it and didn't use it since.
I'm afraid now! :(

After reading that post (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-articles/19956-final-wipe.html) I have been doing all of my (automotive) wiping slower. Seems to help tons. This is the only way I have used the Supreme 530's (they were a recent purchase).

My most recent AG Microfiber experiences are such:
Waffle Weave Window towel - used on windows of course. Love it, can't wait to get some more.
Shamrock - Use for QD and QW wipes. Worked like a charm.
Supreme 530 - Used for wiping behind XMT 360, and they are my favorite.
Green Special Purchase Buffing Towels - Removal of XMT 180 Wax. No problems from them - but I did notice a bit of lint coming from them when I did my pre-use shake out.

By the way, the "bad batch" suggestion is not accurate. This linting has been a problem ever since the shamrocks were released.

Thanks for the clarification Dalton. I am glad that you have not been afflicted by the curse of the leprechaun (green dandruff). Would I be safe in assuming then that even though you love the shamrocks you would buy the Supreme 530's?

There's a thread like this on CorvetteForum and I just posted this,

I've been using these to dry my car and love them for this purpose. I have used them lately for wiping off all kinds of paint care products but haven't seen or paid attention to any fibers being left behind? I'll pay close attention on my next detail job.

I have been using these microfiber polishing cloths lately and so far I really like them.

Cobra Supreme 530 Microfiber Towel 6 Pack

They are very thick and plush, one side has a short nap and the other side has a larger fluffy nap, so you can choose the side you like best for the task at hand.

Saturday when I did the testing of the new Griot's Garage 3" Mini Polisher I was using these to wipe off polish and wax residue on a clear coated black finish and saw no loose fibers anywhere.

There's a similar thread like this one on the AG forum so I will pay closer attention to them the next time I use them.

I have a black, 1969 Chevelle coming up so I'll do some monitoring on that project.
