Care for Clear Bra

Can you buff a Clear bra?

I've read of people having good luck buffing out swirls on the 3M clear bras but nothing about any other specific brands.

Don't remember which product they were using but they would have to be fine or gentle polishes and foam finishing pads.

These types of plastic films are flexible and the word is malleable and usually malleable substance don't lend themselves well to being abraded with the end result looking good or clear.

Remember, always do a Test Spot first and make sure you can make a small area look good with your products and process before going over the entire car or in this case the entire bra.

The clear bra on my S2K had some significant swirls and RIDS when I first got it. Wolfgang TSR + Orange pad took care of it (follow with Finishing Glaze / gray pad), just BE SURE to take off the edges and be very careful when working on it. You're always taking a risk when you use a buffer on a clear bra, so keep that in mind. It was something I was willing to risk to get rid of some swirls, though!

For LSP, I used Fuzion like on the rest of the car.

Went out and snapped some pics of my car.

Here is what the hood looks like in direct sunlight:

And the clear bra..

Just a reflection shot. You can't see the line unless you really look for it, but it's right at the lower 1/3 of the hood. If you look at the top reflection you can kinda see it.

As you can see, Wolfgang TSR/FG/Fuzion did a pretty damn good job on it. :)

unfortunately the car didn't have the docs with it at the dealer. Can that stuff just peel off? Or is there a special removal process?

yea it does pretty much just peel off if its warm it helps most of the time. just take your time and move slow, plan on white sore knuckles. should take a couple hours at most. just an fyi if its oem painted it will come off fine. if its been resprayed before it was installed theres a good chance of it taking the clearcoat with it. seen it happen a couple times.

:)

on the 3M brand specific rubbing alcohol will remove minor scratches. ive heard of some guys buffing and waxing the material but a polish with a grit to it will make it worst. best thing is monthly maintenance from the start i like xpel paint protection sealant
