Emergency: I spilled Grape Jelly Sauce in My BMW X3

I am in desperate need of your interior carpet/stain help. Here is the story:

I am on my way to work this morning with my crock pot of cocktail meatballs for our holiday pot luck (on the floor next to me) (07 BMW X3 with tan interior). Well of course, I all but forgot about the meatballs as I was basking in my holiday cheer when I took a corner a little too fast causing the meatballs to tip over and spill a significant amount of grape jelly/chili sauce on my near perfect carpet.

I rushed home and vacuumed what sauce I could and attacked it with Folex. This actually worked really well. I dont think you can even tell there was a spill except my car smells like a BBQ meatball.

Here is my question. I got the stain out but I can tell the area is going to be sticky due to the jelly. I know I will probably be fighting this area for the rest of the time I own the car. What do you recommend for getting the sugar out? I dont have an extractor although I was thinking about buying one (cheap Bissell). I am in WI and the highs lately have been in the teens. However, I would rather take care of it now instead of waiting until spring. Thanks for your help.
 
Maybe take it to a reputable detailer that does carpet cleaning and let them take care of it for you.

Don't let them do anything else, just the stained area. It will cost you around $30.00 and if they're reputable they'll do a good job and the emergence will be over.

Might even cost less. If this just happened, try to do it right now before everything dries and sets.

tell me more abou these meatballs.....they sound different... are they really good?
 
I have the bissel and it works ok. If it's like I perceive from your description, then it problem won't come out in one pass. You'll have to keep at it.

I've had good luck with folex as well. I got a cherry soda stain out of a friends car with it. (Not exactly like jelly.)

I just had to keep applying folox and blotting it dry with a towel. I couldn't get a brush or anything to the area very well as it was beside the seat and I wasn't taking the seat out.

I used my fingers to work everything out of the carpet fibers, blotted everything out with a white towel and kept repeating the procedure until a white towel didn't show the stain anymore.

As for the bissel, you can pick them up at a lowes or target and return it if you don't like it.

Mike's avenue would be a lot less hassle though and probably cheaper if you count your time. :)

The meatballs like that are delicious. My wife and neighbor make some using those same ingredients. Everytime they serve them, people know to eat before I find them!!!!

P.S. If you try the Bissell, as has been mentioned in a couple of threads don't use anything in the tank that causes heavy foaming. I put maybe an ounce of folex in it and then just spray Folex or whatever directly on the carpet if it needs it. Then I use the trigger on the bissel to spray the area lightly with it's water. Then just use the extractor portion and go over the section extremely slow. It has a brush I use sometimes to agitate the tough spots as needed.

If you think you will use the Bissell then grab one, but I am with Mike for what they will charge you just to do that area, I would get a detailer with an extractor to get it for you. On a side note funny you make yours with that sauce I use that recipe too... it sounded gross when my brother gave me the recipe but they are YUMMY!
 
Thanks to all for the fast and helpful replies. Thanks to Folex [I think] the stain is completely gone. However, when I run my hand across the spot, it feels sticky. It is okay now but I know every time it gets wet, crap will be attracted to it like a magnet.
Not many detailers here in WI but there are a few. I am going to do some checking - see what they have to say. Unfortunately, I wont be able to get on it until maybe next week. At least for now the stain is gone. That was my number one concern. Thanks FOLEX!!

I'm sorry for your troubles and it's really not funny, but reading this really cracked me up:D. Listen to what Mike and others said... TAKE IT TO A PRO DETAILER!!! (to have them extract just that one spot). Then run your heater for awhile to help it dry. You will be GLAD you did!

I too am terribly sorry for your troubles. It will be right as rain soon. Just get it over to the pro who has experience with a good extractor pronto! But man that comment really cracked me up
