Reorganized my garage this winter

I posted my garage up here a few years ago after I finished painting the red and checkered flag wall and did a little bit of organizing with gladiator products. It worked in the beginning, but as I began to add tool boxes, work benches and the like, it was no longer working and there was no room keep it organized with what I had. The place was a mess! As I mention in my last thread, the epoxy floor also started to come up in a bad way.

This fall I spend 25 hours sanding the epoxy off to get it ready for race deck tile to install next month. Lowes also had a sale on Gladiator Garage products, so I loaded up! I've spent the last three weekends getting it all mounted up and organized and just finished it up.

I originally wanted to take pictures during the project of how it all went together, but, as usual for me, I forgot, so I only have the pictures of the final product.

Please excuse the messy floor as it's winter and I've already swept it 10 times doing this and didn't want to again. Racedeck soon! The hose hideaways are also in there temporarily for the winter and will live outside when it warms up.

Hopefully this will tide me over for quite some time. I'm out of hooks, but at least now I have plenty of gladiator rail mounted so I can reorganize no problem when the need arises.

I still have a laundry list of things to take care of, but I'm happy with it now. I also still need to paint that horrid cabinet to match the tool boxes. I'm working on my floor design with race deck and hope to have that installed in a month or so! TV going in there next month as well, I hope...
 
Looks AWESOME! I love an organized garage. Hey, can you tell me which kind of epoxy you put on the floor that is peeling up? I don't want to use that brand if you had such bad luck with it. Thanks!
 
How did you clean the floor before applying the epoxy when you first put it in? I have epoxy on my garage floor and it works just fine. Its too bad you had to replace it with tiles. Looks good, good luck

The epoxy I used was quikcrete. My prep work, though, was suspect. I didn't use an etcher because I got it from my dad as left overs and he said there was some cleaner in the box and that I should use a degreaser. That probably didn't help, but then again I didn't know. However, there is a sealant on the floor applied by the builder that I've also been told is a problem. My neighbor asked them not to apply that sealer when they built his house because he didn't want his to come up. He followed all the steps and his started coming up so i'm not sure.

The trophies are mostly from car shows. A few are from my R/c racing days and navigation rally's that we've done. Looking to add more next year!

Is that yellow sign among all the trophies from Deals Gap? I rode the Gap on my bike a couple years back.... just a few turns wouldnt you say LOL

Prep is king when it comes to epoxy flooring. The Quikcrete didn't help either. If you want a floor that is going to last, don't buy the cheap stuff at Wal-Mart or the Big Box stores. Go with a reputable company, and stick with 100% epoxy solids. This means if you put 3 gallons down, you'll end up with 3 gallons. The Quikcrete and Rustoleum brands is 50% - you put 3 gallons down, after the chemical reaction and flashing you end up with 1.5 gallons.

I did my floor and after 3 years it still looked like the day I put it down. No peeling, no chipping, no hot tire lift, nothing. Looked great. I sure miss that garage.

go to UCoat It&reg Do-it Yourself Commercial Grade Epoxy Floor Coating Systems for Garages, Basements, Industrial, Commercial, Automotive and more. they guarantee it to not lift with hot tire traffic. i used to work for a Industrial coatings company and we didnt even warrant our epoxies for lifting with hot tires. But UCoatIt does warrant it against lifting. And my moms husband works for Schumacher Racing and he has his whole Huge Manufacturing building with Ucoatit and he drives all of his Semi Car haulers on it everyday and its not lifting and its been done for several years... I'd say if a semi dosnt lift it then a car will not for many many many years.. I'm just waiting for the funds and im doing my 3 car garage in it ASAP
 
looks good love the ferrari flags. is that a m Schumacher poster i see? What did you think of Bahrain and the new regulations?
