What to use to clean steering wheel?

I picked up a new daily driver. It is a 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis. The car is in great shape inside and out. Has over 100k on it.Runs good and that will get me back and forth in the winter months. Anyway, the steering wheel has a sticky or tacky feel to it. I was wondering what I might be able to clean this and get rid of this?
 
Try the DP Total Interior Cleaner it works great.
 
I second the DP Total Interior Cleaner. If that isn't cutting the crud, then try APC+ 4:1. I have had to clean some steering wheels several times to get that gunk off.

Saturate a towel with warm or hot water and let it sit on the wheel wrapped around for about 20 minutes. Then wipe it off. I like going real gently when it comes to wheels because there is no telling what you will mess up if you try to attack the discoloration with aggressive cleaners. This is a case where less is more ! Start out as mild as possible and go from there.
 
I love my APC+ 10:1 on Int. and on more delicate Int. i use the 1z cockpit cleaner.
 
Woolite & water cut 6:1 if really cruddy or 8:1 if only so so cruddy. Cheap, effective, and available anywhere. No need to order a specialty product, this works.

Which Woolite product are you referring to? Woolite has a whole lineup.
 
I clean steering wheels just like the rest of my interior.....Optimum Power Clean (4 to 1) scrubbed with a toothbrush.

excellent choice and the same i use. however i usually go at a 6-1, or 8-1 ratio depending on how dirty the interior is.
 
Careful with APC at too strong of a dilution as I've seen the color come off of leather wrapped steering wheels before. Just be careful is all. If you see the dye from the leather coming off on your rag, you may want to just try something really mild and hope for the best. Good luck.
