Men....will they EVER listen

This thread is funny. I have been dating my girlfriend for 2 1/2 years now (plan on tieing the knot when were done with school and settled).

It's pretty hard to say that I'm right when you have someone who is as smart as she is... I like to think that I'm pretty smart with making straight A's all through school and only a handful of B's in college so far, but she is just too smart... Making a 33 on the ACT and such...

It's hard choosing my battles, but detailing is one that I stand firm lol. I gotta have something I can win lol.

Jeeez....I have a lot better and easier time learning detailing tips and tricks to women cuz they are not stupid. And if a woman knows more about something regarding detailing than me than I wanna learn of her of course. Sheeesh....

38 years here; took me 30 to start listening; now, I look at her when she's talking. As for cars, she has never cared what she drove. As long as it had air conditioning, 4 tires and a steering wheel, she was good to go. Never really cared about a detailed cleaning job on her car until NOW! I gave my new BLACK truck a 3 day detailing, (I'm new at this) and when she saw it, she actually asked, "when you gonna do mine"? Her ride is WHITE, so it took a lot less time to make it look good. Took all day on the paint. We, yes she helped, spent 2 hours on the interior yesterday. It does look great. Thank goodness I was listening when she asked, "when you gonna do mine"?

Now your wife sounds like my husband....hopefully she didn't tell you how to do it while you were working the paint. I'll have to admit it was kinda nice working together on the truck. We laughed alot and decided two heads are better than one when it comes to getting dealership decals off a truck.

Sounds fun! I wish my wife was into it. When I'm doing her car that would be a lot of fun. Now you just have to educate your husband on who's the boss when you're detailing together :)

Been married almost 12 years...wife says I still don't listen. At least I think that's what she said...I wasn't really listening.

I listen ... and quickly (very quickly) discard what was not needed. After all these years my harddrive is full so I must conserve any leftover space :props:

Of course we listen, when our ego shuts up,it just takes longer for some of us to tame it.

If he wants to mess up his ride, let him. Just keep him away from yours!

Or since a lot of men like a competition, challenge him. Say, I'll do one side of it my way, you do the other side your way and then we'll see which looks better.

It was. I did whip out the B.S. in biochemistry when convincing him I knew how to get sticky off with a tiny bit of WD40. I'll just pick my battles....hehehe.

THis has been a great thread. I have enjoyed getting alot different perspectives from men. I wish there were more gals around to comment.

Pick your battles is right. When I got married 13 years ago a dear friend that is like a father to me told me "You can be right or you can be happy." He was married for almost 50 years before he lost his wife. He gave great advice but also lived it. At eighteen months into your marriage you're still learning about each other. Just remember that guys mature a lot later than women, usually about ten years later.

BTW, we men do listen, we just don't always hear
...

Hey, everything I know about marriage, I learned from watching Home Improvement!

:joking: Not really. Although Home Improvement is freakin' hilarious, and I do love watching it! :awesome:
