Just a quick question. I was doing some checking and i would like to know if any of the available grinder/sander at your local hardware store could be converted to polishers. I believe that the Makita rotary is actually a grinder/polisher. Feed back please

Not a 100% sure but i believe the makita is only a polisher.Also most grinders that I've seen don't use a 5/8 spindle to attach the grinding wheels.I also think they use a different RPM range.

not the same. grinders spin at like 10,000 rpm compared to the 600 to 3000 rpm of most polishers.

The Makita starts at 600 RPM which a grinder won't. I have tried to persuade them to drop the RPM down to 300 for starters but no luck so far. Great machine though.
