"Jeweling paint" 3 step polish?

Yeppers.... the minor swirls did come out. I am very please so far.

Lastly, I have decided to buy some more stuff and the Menzerna Polish PO85RD is in my basket for the next time..:D!

Thanks for all of your help and others that assisted me with my effort.

This was a very informative thread. Can't wait to try jeweling when I detail my car in the next few weeks.

I have noticed that Lake Country has a "jeweling" CSS pad now. I have not found any mentioned of it in any threads I have read on jeweling. Was curious why, a new product no one has tried? , or a re-colored pad so the manufactuer can make a little more money? , or maybe too soft to be effective?

Thanks

Looking at what the pads and polishes are described for, this is what i decided for my 2004 Black Nissan
using my new 7424XP:

wash
clay
SSR 2 Orange CCS 5.5" pad and flat 4" pad for just the roof and trunk for minor oxidation
next everything
SSR 1 White CCS 6.5" pad
PB Polish/Sealant Green CCS 6.5" pad
Klasse Slealant 2 coats Grey CCS 6.5" pads
Pinnacle Souveran wax 2 coats Blue CCS 6.5" pad then Red flat 5" pad

seems like you are suggesting using the finessing pads for the polishes as well?

What happened to the jeweling step?

What happened to the jeweling step?

Maybe that's what I do not get. I read over the thread, but what exactly are you considering jeweling? I am using every pad... Do I need to use a softer pad with polish?

Please describe which step i am missing.

Ok maybe this is it?
SSR 1 White CCS 6.5" pad
SSR 1 Grey CCS pad
PB Polish/Sealant Green CCS 6.5" pad
Klasse Slealant 2 coats Grey CCS 6.5" pads
Pinnacle Souveran wax 2 coats Blue CCS 6.5" pad then Red flat 5" pad

I thought that using the Green finishing pad with the Poorboys Polish with Sealant would "Jewel."

Maybe below makes more sense since going from White, skipping to Grey, then back up to Green and back down to Grey again just seems out of order (unless it wont matter)...

SSR1White
SSR1 Green
PB w/ Sealant Grey
Klasse Grey 2x
Souveran 2x Blue then Red

No experience with SSR1 for jeweling. If you are going to use SSR1, you need a blue pad although a grey might work. So after SSR1 with white pad, step down to SSR1 and a grey pad. I use Menz 87MC with a blue pad for jeweling. BTW why Souveran 2X blue then red?

i meant 2 applications, one time with blue then a second coat with red... why? idk i guess why not since i have 2 soft pads (using the softest for the 2nd coat).

as far as jeweling, couldn't I jewel with the Poorboys Polish w/ Sealant? I just wonder if jeweling with a blue pad and SSR1 followed by the PB w/ sealant with a green or grey pad might make the jeweling pointless.

So should I do:

SSR1 white
PB w/ sealant blue (jewel)
Klasse grey 2 coats
Souveran red 2 coats

OR

skip the PB w/ sealant and only use that for occasional touch ups and a green pad,
but for this application:

SSR1 white
SSR1 blue
Klasse 2x grey
Souveran 2x red

Just want to use all the pads I purchased:
2 yellow 4" CCS (if compunding ever needed)
2 orange 4" flat
1 orange 6.5" CCS
2 white 6.5" CCS
1 green 6.5" CCS
2 grey 6.5" CCS
1 blue 6.5" CCS
2 red 5.5" flat
2 red 4: CCS

I don't think you can jewel with a sealant. So, your second system should be good.

i'll simplify my question i hope.

Since the grey and softer blue and yet softer red pads have no cut...

If I jewel with a blue bad, will it matter to go back up to the grey one to seal?

You can apply with grey, blue or red.

Ok, here I go bring a thread back from the dead again. I made an attempt at Jeweling my black paint this weekend. I only did the hood as it had some minor scratches. I started with M205 on a LC 4" Hydro-Tech tangerine pad. That removed the minor defects and had the car looking good. Next I switched to a LC 6.5" CCS blue pad and Menzerna PO85RD. I did one side of the hood and looked at it and could not see a difference. I assume I am doing something wrong, any ideas? I have a PC 7424 that I used for this and the speed was set to 5.

TIA

Anyone tried Optimum Finish Polish in jeweling? If I am not mistaken, it is the only fine finishing polish with non-diminishing abrasives. Doesn't it run against the breaking down of abrasives involved in jeweling?

Hey, i think youre looking more at using a rotary for this type of paint correction instead of a PC, especially when you get into the realm of jeweling the paint

Well then I am out of luck. I think I will give it one more try on the truck lid but this time I will switch down to a 4" blue pad.
