help on which products for silver

Wanting to try a whole different method. I have A silver metalic car. I'm looking to first clay the car follow by a polish. (poor boys polish with sealant?) Paint is decent very little swirls Id say good shape. I have a autobody guy that will buff the car. Which wax would you recommend to make the car pop and look shiny.

Which pad for the polish wool
and possible pad for the wax

I wouldn't trust an autobody guy with taking care of your car, unless you've heard some feedback prior. As for wax, I'd go with Pinnacle Signature Series II. It works well on all paints, but is specifically nice on light metallics, like your color. As for applicator just get some Pinnacle Yellow applicators, you really don't need to go crazy. For polishing, if the car isn't swirled terribly, a wool pad will not be needed. At most I'd say an orange. Hope this helped.

Poorboy's PwS works well with either a org or white pad

Wax- DoDo hard candy
 
I'm going to have to agree with JON I would use an orange pad for the polish and I like the pinnacle signature series II for metallics
 
ill spend a good amount on good products. PSSII i will try. I heard excellent reviews. Ive cleaned the car many times. but im looking to get better products to get a excellent pop/shine look.
 
I have Signature Series II as well, but haven't gotten the chance to use it yet. Am looking forward to it though!

That being said, Meguiar's NXT 2.0 looks very nice on silver. It's not an overly durable product (I can get it to last two months or so with regular washing and booster applications of Ultimate Quik Wax), but it's pretty easy to work with, so re-application isn't a big deal. Here's a pic of NXT 2.0 on silver:

I tend to prefer a sealant over a carnauba on light colors, but you can top a sealant with a carnauba and get good results as well. Collinite 845 has a nice look to it and is quite durable as well. I would just play around with a few products and see which one (or combo) you like the best. BTW, on the Accord pictured, I plan to do a polish and then top it with DP Poli-Coat and DP Max Wax, hopefully in the near future. I am curious to see what that will look like. Can't wait! That was my first thought too Jon...

There are MORE posts about "Horror Stories" shared by people on ALL detailing discussion forums about horrendous swirls instilled into some innocent person's car's paint than there are SUCCESS stories.

If your buddy doesn't hang out on a detailing forums like this one chances are very good he doesn't know as much as the people here that do hang out on detailing discussion forums and educate themselves.
