This is gonna be a LOOOOOONG day without A/C :(

No one and I mean no one in the AC business is working today

No one? I would have guessed it would just have been like weekend call out rates to get someone out.

Dude, I absolutely hear you. We're in south Texas. Ours went out last week, $165 later it was fixed, next day went out, day later it was fixed, couple days later went out; all this time the family is fighting something like the flu. Found an electrician yesterday who found a couple of shorts, paid him $100 and all is good.

Yup NOOOOO ONE, I too would have thought I could find someone.

Well I hope mine is that cheap but I have a feeling that it isn't going to be. What I think happened is the fan took a crap and in return burned up the compressor. If I give the fan a spin it will start running but the compressor wont turn on.

Mine went out last summer. I had someone come out on a Saturday, cost me $250 bucks to swap out a $30 dollar capacitor that had blown. Which reminds me I need to get the part # of that and get a spare for 'just in case'... easy to swap out and I could have done it myself if I had the part handy.

Ours died on Thursday and we had a guy come out on Friday to replace the fan motor in it......

yea it pays to have friends in the a/c business especially in south. hopefully its something small be praying for you! i am a big sissy and turn into a girl when it comes to no a/c and a sun burn on my back (itchiness*) lol

Well the guy should be here anytime now. Getting a little worried about what hes going to say.

$233 later and I'm cool again well I'm always cool :coolgleam: but the house is cool inside now

Mine went out last weekend as well. Our unit was at least 30 years old so it was bound to happen sooner than later.

Good thing my brother does heating and AC. I called him up and he grabbed a unit from the shop and the next moring all was good.

I feel for you and hope all is repaired. Id personally rent a room for the day/night to shower and cool as needed.

I can feel for you. My friends kid me about how cold I keep my house, it's been compared to a meat locker. My complete unit died last year and I went without A/C for about a week before getting it replaced.
