I won the Autogeek giveaway http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/car-care-product-giveaways/24886-new-dodo-juice-giveaway-3.html including a Dodo Juice Supernatural "Yeti Fist" Wash Mitt, as promised I offer a review and my opinion of the product. Not too bad a price to pay for a $35 wash mit. Thank you to Meghan! and AG altogether! :props:

Initial observations:
This mitt is obviously very well made, high quality natural Merino wool, the strands are longer than any wool mitt I've seen (in person) and are very dense, the inner seams and cuff are securely stitched with strong thread. As the instructions say, it will lint and should be brushed, also it is advised to wash and check for debris in the wool before use (I didn't find ANY debris in the mit). It is still shedding a lot after three uses, I attribute this to the fact that I was pretty timid about aggressively brushing the wool.

Here's a pic of the mitt, dry, sitting on my side mirror and a link to a thread with more pics of Dodo Mitts. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/25308-yeti-s-fist-vs-wookie-s-fist.html

I used the mitt a couple times before reviewing in order to get a good feel for it. I used it via regular two bucket method, with the AG Foam Cannon HP and with an "ONR like" two bucket method (meaning I did a two bucket wash with rinse-less wash strength ONR plus a little soap).

First is using the mitt with the ONR solution. I want to mention the large amount of water this mitt will "hold", I parenthesize "hold" because most of it drains from the mitt fairly quick. Here is a video demonstrating:
(all of the video's in this review were shot solely as demonstrations, not necessarily during the "actual" wash)

Notice when I squeeze the mitt at the end that there was very little ONR solution left in the mitt.

Next I show the use of this solution to wash half of the hood. It may not look like it, but I'm actually slightly holding up off the paint letting the weight of the mitt do the work. I've seen Mike Phillips use a wool mitt in a video, just holding it without putting his hand inside. This mitt would probably be great for that but I didn't try it.

ONR does not feel very slippery on it's own, but with some DP Xtreme added in for suds it felt really slick. It helped hold the solution in the mitt but defeated the purpose of an ONR wash as it needed rinsing, I just wanted to get a feel for wool and ONR. If this mitt is used with ONR, you could quickly empty a bucket down to the Grit Guard if your not careful. I've read others did not like ONR and wool mitt's, I will agree. Even though it worked great, I'll stick with my Cobra Supreme 530's for ONR.

Next is using the Yeti Fist with the Foam Cannon and DP Xtreme Foam Formula. With this method I both foamed both the car and the mitt, which gave a massive amount of suds between the paint and the mitt. I don't think there is a safer way to wash a car. In fact this method may be so safe that it won't remove things like dried on bug splatter without a second pass. My car wasn't really dirty enough to test cleaning ability, hmm... then what's the point of all this stuff again? J/K :D.

The Foam Cannon had just over 1oz of DP Xtreme in 8 oz of water. I always start with the foam setting all the way down and bump it up until I like the foam. I do this because it's always a little different from soap to soap and because it's the setting I leave it on after running clean water through it when I finish the previous wash. I've found the foam cannon to be very soap-efficient, cutting the amount I use per wash almost in half... NOT what I expected. :)

I'm not sure if it's just DP Xtreme or not but as I showed at the end of the above video, any foam that hasn't been agitated with a wash mitt will leave a film behind if only rinsed with the sheeting method. The film is easily rinsed away with a spray from the hose with a spray nozzle. Anyone else notice this?

I didn't video the regular two bucket wash but the mitt performed well, as expected. Holding lots of suds but most of the extra water is lost pretty quick, which is just in time to go back to the rinse/wash buckets anyway. :xyxthumbs:

Final thoughts:
The DoDo Yeti Fist is a high quality wash mitt that I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of wool wash mitts. I feel like dirt particles are easily rinsed from the mitt when rubbed on a Grit Guard but stuff like pine needles, and other tree debris (which I have a problem with) will tend to get caught up in the strands and requires picking out by hand. I still prefer Lake Country Car Wash Grout Sponge for it's ability to hold massive amounts of wash solution that you can release on demand with a quick squeeze. Both types of wash media are great, just depends on personal preference and situation.

Thanks for looking!

Coming soon is my review of Dodo Juice Purple Haze PRO Soft Wax which was also included in the same giveaway as the Yeti Fist. After all the washing recently, my coat of Autoglym HD wax has finally worn off.

Here's just a fun video of the ridiculous amount of foam created by the AG Foam Cannon HP and DP Xtreme Foam. I get a big goofy grin and giggle every time I use the thing. :D

Ok that was probably one of the best and most informative review I have gotten from a member that I have sent products to! So you let me know what you want to review next! AND thank you for taking the time, I really enjoyed reading your write up and watching the videos! :dblthumb2:

Thanks guy's!

and Meghan, it's only the least I could do. I really appreciate all the giveaway's, excellent customer service and general "niceness" from you and the rest of the AG staff. Plus I had fun! Hmmm... what do I want to review next... You can let me know if there is anything you would like me to review as well. :D

Wow! Great review David. Detailed video review on several methods of use. We can't ask for more then that! Thank you!

Between you and Tad you guys are going to make me want one :)

Great review David, thanks for taking the time to do it for us!!

Corey, you can pet sit mine anytime you want. (Just remember he needs special attention...lol)

I like how you marked the Foam Cannon container. Is that measured in oz. or is that a dilution ration? The amount of foam you are making with just 1oz. is amazing. I must be doing something wrong. As I put in about 2-3oz. maybe a bit more and then fill with water and give it a shake. Perhaps I should not be adding the water and just let the pressure washer fill the reservoir with water?

Awesome write up. I have the "Wookie" and have yet to use it. I need to get a pet brush and brush it out.

Don

Great Review! Ive been using wool wash mits for quite sometime. I will be sure to order up the Yeti!!

Awesome review! Thank you for taking the time to make the videos. They came out great.

Is this the same as a short hair dodo mitt I saw on on dodo's site? Or did dodo come out with a new short pile mitt?

Nice videos. I bet the videos just sold a few on foam cannons.

No problem!

Not sure, what do they call it on the DoDo site? Only similar mitt I saw on their site was the Wookie.

Wow, no joke on the foam cannon!

Seriously! :dblthumb2:

Nice videos. I bet the videos just sold a few on foam cannons.

Thanks! I wouldn't doubt it.

I just had an idea, put a LC grout sponge inside the Yeti Fist. I did a test fit and I think it's gonna be good... Opinion and maybe a video coming soon. :xyxthumbs:

Hey A41.8T, that is a really nice review, and the videos are great.

DP Xtreme Foam leaves its own coating behind to restore water-beading after the wash, and to reduce water spots during the drying process. That's the film you're getting on your paint when you were trying to rinse with just an open hose...you need to use a nozzle or your pressure washer to rinse the film off.

Thanks Emile! I only get the film in spots that were not rubbed with a wash mitt, makes it easy to tell a missed spot when rinsing. The film rinses away very easily with a spray nozzle. I didn't see anything in the description about leaving a coating behind intended to restore beading, just that it has "proprietary cleaning agents", "pH-balanced" and "leaves waxes and sealants intact. Care to share where that info came from?

Nice review! Glad you added the videos. My Yeti's Fist just came the other day. Can't wait to use it! Im the MAN By the way, how are you supposed to care for this thing?

Thanks Shane! I am a "video guy". You might think when I get off work from running cameras all day I wouldn't want to make more videos for fun... but I do! LOL.

I thoroughly rinse it in plain old clean water, squeeze out as much water as possible, fold it into a drying towel (I got a few each of "drying MF and WWMF towels" from both Home Depot and Walmart, I don't use then on paint, but for stuff like this) and squeeze out more water, turn it inside out, fold in drying towel and squeeze again, back to right side in and lay it on a towel or Grit Guard to dry.

Edit: Or what I just thought of. After rinsing, shove half the big blue Walmart drying towel inside and wrap the rest around the outside, squeeze and leave to dry. Easy

Excellent review... thanks for the videos.. no better way to make a review IMO!!! 2 thumbs up!:dblthumb2:
