Ok, so I've been gone out of town for a while so I had some time to think about things related to my new gear. The first thing was the Yeti! Man I love this thing! So I was thinking of a great way to help it dry better, at least on the inside. The instructions say to flip the cuff down so the inside dries as to eliviate molding on the inside. Great, no problem, right? Well my first attempt to get it to stay open wasn't great. The outside of it was dry, however the inside was still very damp. So I had to come up with a way to keep the cuff open better. I was sitting at my workbench, enjoying a nice cold drink when I looked at the cup:

Now I thought, it's got a wide mouth at the top, easily customizable for my application I wanted, lets give it a shot. So I went and got my hand box cutter:

Made a slit at the bottom:

Cut the bottom of the cup completely off:

Used my hands to slip the cup into the sleeve of the mitt until the top of the cup was just at the end of the cuff:

Now the cuff opening was very wide and allowed all the air to "circulate" inside the mitt:

For me I just propped the mitt on a nail I use for various things using the rim of the cup to hold it up there and VIOLA! A handy Yeti Mitt drying apparatus was invented!

Works very good. Inside and outside dried fully in 2 1/2 days where as before the inside was still very damp. Just thought I'd share!

i just pull the wash mitt over an old wine bottle. takes a few days for the to dry.

Yeah, but how does the air get into the mitt to dry? If you have the bottle over it, air can't get in to dry it out, I would think.

Love it. Doing this might of saved my sheepskin from falling apart after only 5 uses.

Cool tip! Thanks for sharing. Now, go feed your Yeti! :p

I have also the yeti. It realy takes a while to dry it . Very nice tip:xyxthumbs:

LOL, it will get fed either tonight or tomorrow once the temperature FINALLY drops to a repectable level!

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I'm glad you all enjoyed!

Would you buy the Yeti again and what other wash mitts do you have to compare it to? Is it better than all others you've tried? Thanks.

So far I've tried the AG Sheepskin (loved it, my favorite except it fell apart quickly), Microsoft Chenille (not bad), the Schmitt (feels too abrasive) and the Eurow Sheepskin (not as good as the AG Sheepskin). I'm really interested in the Wookie or Yeti.

I would buy this mitt again if I ever had to. Another forum member wrote up a GREAT review of it about 2 weeks ago. It holds a TON of water so it's not really practical for ONR type washing but, if you have a few 5gal buckets it'll work wonders. The hair is nice and long to capture all sorts of dirt and contanimate from your vehicle. In the past I've used the walmart style "sheepskin" mitt. That was to harsh on my paint so I quickly changed to the AA MF bone sponge. I like that one as well as the MF strands where nice and long and didn't cause any swirls, but it just didn't hold enough water for me. I like the Yeti, it's the perfect size, the wookie is even bigger and that may take a bigger bucket, maybe a swimming pool size! LOL Since there is no thumb slot in this mitt, I can use one side for the first pass to get most of the dirt off, then flip it around while still on my hand for a second pass to get what's left off. All in all I'd give this mitt a 9/10. I'm not a 10/10 guy as every product has some sort of flaw in it, I just han't found it in this product yet.

I LOVE mine. Got it a few weeks ago and have used it 4 times. It is my favorite by far. I've used a sea sponge, the Schmitt, the chenille mitt, and the boars hair brush. I use a foam gun, so i foam up the car and the Yeti before making a pass. It glides across the car SO smoothly; like it's floating. I also like the fact that it's light colored. It makes it a lot easier to see if anything is trapped in there or not. :dblthumb2:

So how much soap do you use in a typical wash with the Yeti?

Well since I have a full size Dodge Ram 4x4 QC I literally go through almost an entire 5 gallon bucket of soap. I'm going to do a test next time I wash it and dunk the mitt in the bucket then let it pour/drip into another bucket just to see how much liquid it holds, but trust me it's A LOT.

I assume the amount held depends on how much you let it drain from the mitt. Some soaps are runnier (like Pinnacle. Wolfgang) than say Optimum which has heavier suds.
