Testing, using the least aggressive product?

Hi all,

I just purchased a PC 7424 with Meguiars 105 and 205 with Orange, White and Blue LC flat pads, Menzernas Powerlock, and Menzernas PF20 paint sealant. I have a 2006 Infiniti FX35 (black) which is in very good condition besides the normal swirls on black cars. When Mike says go with the least aggressive product, it doesnt mean to go to a sealant right? He's referring to using 205 with a white pad?

Yes.

Start out using the M205 with the white polishing pads and do a section about 16" squarish or so and then see if you're removing the swirls to your satisfaction, if not then it's probably time to test a more aggressive product.

I think you may be lucky in that you probably don't have the self healing paint that Infiniti was experimenting with as I don't think they started using these paints till around 2007 or 2008

Oh yea. Quick question, after I use the M205 with the white pad and it comes out swirl free, can I use the same white pad for the powerlock or should I always switch to a new white pad for a new product?
 
Your should always continue to clean your pad while you use 205 over toe car and gliding more than one white pad won't hurt either.

For powerlock, I would use a blue or black pad instead of a white pad. When you are applying a sealant such as powerlock you should be done removing all swirls out of the car. This means that while you are using powerlock you are not removing swirls or paint since A) the product isn't aggressive and is not made for such and B) you should be using a pad with zero cut in it like a black or blue pad.
