Suggest something else other then XMT!

I have 1,2 and 3 of the XMT line. I do not like how much of the products turns into the small dust and gets everywhere. Is there a product that can be suggested other then the XMT line. Not something outrageously expensive, but something that will work better overall and maybe have less residue!! I am really not a fan of the XMT line. O well

Um, he said he didn't like dust, why are we recommending M105? The up side is it cuts like nothing else, especially with HT cyan. The downside is it does produce dust after 2 passes. And OMG if you happen to sneeze or accidently lift that pad off the paint before it stops spinning, well lets just say that you might as well tack on another hour to your detail because you're going to be spending the rest of your life getting all those little white dots off. I learned my lesson once and that's all it took. Sneezed (worse than normal) and looked up to see everything coated in white dots. Got in places I couldn't imagine how it got there.

I started using the The Wolfgang Swirl Remover Combo a little over a year ago and love em. Easy to use and less dusting. They are my go to products and have not ever disappointed. Just my .02
 
Even when i tape, I still manage to get the dots everywhere they shouldn't be. And the worst part is.. THEY STICK to everything.. very hard to get them off..
 
All polishes dust in some fashion, some more and some less. Its more important to grab polishes that get the job done correctly and efficiently as possible. Id suggest:

Menzerna SIP and Nano
Megs 105 and 205
Wolfgang TSR and FG

all are great combo's, work extremely well, and have lots of followers
 
Non-dusting products also with a very long play time or buffing cycle and easy wipe off...

Wolfgang Twins
Menzerna Polishes
Optimum Hyper Compound and Hyper Polish
Meguiar's M205
Mothers Foam Pad Glaze, Machine Glaze and Rubbing Compound - (Haven't played with the other products in the Pro Line)


I use to think how easy a product wiped-off was a lesser characteristic of a product and the primary importance was product performance and while product performance is of primary importance, if a product is hard to wipe off it,

  • Tires you and can dramatically reduce the enjoyment factor of detailing your own car or customer's cars.
  • Creates the potential for re-instilling swirls and scratches back into the paint

....yes...absolutely yes.

ONCE I lifted the pad a LITTLE early detailing a car with 105....

What a nightmare.

My personal favorite polish due to how it breaks down is Menzerna SIP. I love it. M105 works VERY quickly, but you will most definitely get dusting with it. I have never used the XMT polishes, so I can't comment on how the dusting from 105 compares.
 
I guess I don't mind dusting if the product works well. In my experience, the XMT product does not work well enough to "not mind" the dusting caused by it.

Just like buckskin colt, I have been using the wofgang twins without disappointment.

There are products that cut better, but not with the working time or lack of dust like Wolfgang.
 
I am a fan of the UC/SwirlX combo. Works nice for me without alot of dusting. Do the new optimum hyper products dust?

The sprays do not dust at all and have a VERY long working time. A real pleasure to work with.

People on here have really been recomending 105 and 205 to me but this is the first I've heard of white dots getting everywhere. I have a convertible and would rather clean the top before the paint and not have to do it again after. Is the 105 really that bad. I'm new so I might be a little slow and even tempted to lift early because it's natural for me to do from working with sanding wood and metal.
 
105 is an amazing polish and I have it with me on every detail that I do. You just have to be careful to spread the polish out evenly and keep the pad flat against the surface before you turn it on and allow the pad to stop rotating after you turn it off before lifting. As long as you do that you should never have a problem with it :)

105 and 205 are certainly many detailers go-to duo now, and for good reason. They work well and work fast.
