I've been a WGDGPS and 4StarUPP fan and love how WG is so easy to apply and remove and how UPP is just amazing on black. I heard a lot of positives on Power Lock, so I decided to give her a try.

Pros:
- goes on easy, like WG
- wipes off easy, like WG

Cons:
- nothing in general, but I don't think it's any better than UPP on black.

Conclusion:
I have had it on the Odyssey for a few days now...no rain yet. As far as looks, I can't honestly say it's better than WG or UPP. WG might still be a little "wetter". So depending on how it does with durability, if it lasts longer than UPP then I may have another go-to sealant.

Here are some pics of the Power lock on our Odyssey. Surface prep was a simple wash and quick clay. It was buffed and polished last year. I don't think it needs another buffing session quite yet.... too big haha. You guys be the judge on the pics below.

UPP is still my personal fav on black too, might be a tad slicker than Powerlock also initially. I do however think Powerlock might show longer durability if measured side by side. No wrong choice !

Hey Killr... question for you (or others that use UPP often)... is it just me, or is UPP a teeny weeny more difficult to apply and remove than either WG or Powerlock? It's not difficult by any means, but what I mean is that it requires a little more effort to remove than the others. WG and PL (powerlock) are like butter... I dunno, maybe it's just me. Which is why I was confused with your comment. Could you please explain?

And also, I am trying to be more objective and truthful in my posts regarding reviews on products. Some folks think that EVERYthing they try that is new is automatically "awesome" and the "best out there"... I think when us experienced detailing geeks have used a LOT of products and have seen some very high quality products in action, it takes a lot more for a product to truly "wow" us... just my 2 cents.
 
I too have heard a lot about powerlock recently and might have to give it a go soon.

I have too much sealant/wax right now to concern myself with buying more product at the moment though :P
 
I dont find any that difficult to add or remove. Once you get into adding a thin even coat on any sealant the hardest part becomes which applicator and how thin/thick is the sealant. I generally like the foam applicators with sealants that come out like lotion.
 
What is the preferred method for applying a sealant? In my first time of using Power Lock, I applied with my PC7424, set on 3, and a gray LC pad. Spread it out then made a couple of passes. Does a sealant need to be worked that much or just spread it out and let it dry?

Right... that's how I apply my sealants too. What I was saying earlier was, I apply all 3 of my sealants the same way, whether it be WG, UPP, or PL... but with UPP, I notice that it's a tad bit harder to apply/remove. But it delivers the best results on black, hands down. I was just wondering if you or anyone else noticed "more effort" in needing to use UPP.

I 2nd this question. I too, would like to know how to properly apply PL (or any other sealant for that matter) using a PC7424XP. Any advice givers out there? ;)
 
UPDATE: It's been about a week since I applied Powerlock on my G... I think I am liking this product more and more. It definitely lasts longer than WGDGPS. I just got done washing her, and the beading and slickness is impressive. Usually after a wash, the beading is somewhat reduced on WG. The biggest asset to Powerlock must be the durability. I must say, the beading is still pretty tight. I took some pics after a rinse.

Is it better that 4StarUPP??? Not sure on that yet... I'd give it a couple more weeks.

I plan to put a coat of OptiSeal on her this afternoon... :xyxthumbs:

It's only been a week and you want to top it with a different sealant. Why not top it with PL again and see if you really like it? Using OS will only confuse you findings.Feed back please
 
I too vote for some more time and a second layer of Powerlock, its a darn nice sealant !
 
I see a lot of people saying PL isn't as durable as other popular sealants. Don't top it with something else yet. Go another week and report back.

You 3 bring up very good points. Luckily, it was frickin' 91 degs here today after I was done washing. It was too hot, and working on it further in the garage while at a baking temp of 100 degs would be stupid. So good thing I didn't top it today. I will wait another week and perhaps top it with another layer of PL.
